After contacting numerous companies and leaving lots of messages, none of which were returned, and two people arranginf appointments but never turning up we finally went to British Gas!
Not only did they answer the phone first time but made an appointment there and then and they turned up and fixed the boiler for what I consider a fair price.
Puts the rest of you to shame!

I now feel ashamed.
TBF, i'm probably not the best person to have servicing your boiler - though i dare say i could have been pretty good on the promptness front, had i known it was an open competition.
Sorry I didn't make myself very clear did I!
I did mean the rest of the heating (or whatever they call themselves) industry
