Oddly it was even cheaper this month! Says I removed broadband, but I'm using it?

It’s FTTP which stands for Fibre To The Property.

Basically it’s fast broadband through a fibre optic cable all the way from the exchange to your home.

Which is pretty pointless given that coax will do 1GB fine. Maybe if we ever get up to 10GB fibre will be needed but then you'd need a desktop PC with a 10GB ethernet card. Many have a 2.5GB port now but 10GB over copper is still a fairly recent thing, the cards are expensive and run hot.

Interesting development for anyone else on Virgin, the chat muppets say nah mate your bill must go up. So go to upgrade your account, leave it the same, it lets you start a new 18 month contract at todays prices. They wanted an extra £5/m to go from 350 to 500, but if you just went for 350 they offer it for £2 at the next stage instead.

So £25 for 500mb, a phone I'll never use and a load of TV channels I don't know where the box is to access!

Not yet available where I am. As I’m currently marathon training I’m seeing quite a bit of Stafford I don’t visit all that often. There’s a lot of works being done, multiple cabinets upgraded etc.

On the Crossings estate behind The Hough retail park they've been doing work on the broadband which I presume is the FTTP....

He will be remembered as the campaigner who forced in legislation to ensure that all contract t n c must be in the same size font, and no smaller than 12 pt

And also for slaughtering innocent trees via packets of Beecham Powders

No sign of that where I am, just checked the Openreach page.

Just had an email saying fibre is now available, but as I have virgin for free I'll decline!

f you get it make sure you take ' before' and 'after' photos . Made a right mess of properties around here last summer. Seems we got off light with only our concrete porch dug up to pull the fibres through the existing underground channelling .. Had a right game getting Talk Talk/ City Fibre/ Kelly Communications to fill it back in properly. Offered cash or them to arrange a subcontractor after photo evidence. ( went with subcontractor who said they wete keeping him busy with big repair jobs ).Lots had whole inside walls destroyed , power cables severed etc etc.

Can't really notice any difference in speed since having it. But did us a favour getting the box installed upstairs in hubby's office instead of wires running upstairs from the old box.
( they advised to keep old box in house to revert back to if new fibre ever fails)

Our current cable runs off telegraph pole and was replaced due to damage about 2 years ago. I’m hoping they run the new stuff off a pole too otherwise I won’t be having it!
