Anyone know if any good deals out there at the moment. I'm currently with BT but at the end of the contract, so looking for a new deal. I know @tek-monkey is always good at finding these deals.

I currently get 45mb download speed & 14mb upload speed, and I have this with a land line (not used, only for the internet connection). And these speeds are fine, I don't need anything fancier

Some of the sky deals look good and are around half the £39.52 I'm paying with BT but does this include the land line? Do I need a landline ? (It's not used at all).

I don't need TV packages either. Thank you!

Have you tried negotiating with BT. Give them a call & tell them you’re thinking of leaving. Most will give you a decent discount, it might mean signing up for a contract but you’d do that anyway with a new provider.

First off, if happy, always try to negotiate. That said a lot of companies offer very little til you've actually left, which always annoys me enough that I refuse.

So, if it's just broadband, can you get virgin cable in your area? If so I may be able to get the best deal on that, if not I can find something that goes down your phone line, regardless I can beat the £39!

EDIT: Do you use your landline for calls, or does it exist just for broadband?

Yes, I tried that they won't really budge. The most they come down by is £7.00 a month so stil over £30.00

Hmmm I spoke to virgin, and get offered me a broadband deal for £24 a month , told me I don't need a phone line (I have one with BT) TV was included too, but iv not made my mind up yet. (New customer deal though).

BT wanted £ 39.75 broadband & phone line (phone line just for the broadband) , the VERY best bt could do was £26.... And that was only when I was cancelling.....when I phones enquiring 2 weeks ago it was £32

Cancel, they'll try vaguely to stop you but not really. A week or 2 later the Indian call centre will try, again the deals are terrible. Wait til the Swansea team call you, usually in the last week, as they have the best deals.

Unless your communication preferences are set to don't contact, in which case you just leave.

they are now offering to reduce it to £45 initially offered a discount of £3.50
Just quit, nobody offers you a good deal til the Swansea team get involved and they are only for when you've handed in your 30 days notice to quit. I quit every time there is an above RPI price rise (your right under the agreement to quit at any point in the contract if this happens) and on the last few days I get a better deal.
