No to Virgin thank you

Any good options other than BT?
Depends on what you need it for.

I’m of the opinion that other than Virgin, there aren’t any actual “superfast” providers in Stafford - 80Mbps is not fast, let alone superfast. They all use the same line…

However if you just want casual browsing, I would suggest one of the smaller suppliers - they’re always much nicer to deal with. I’m moving our home line over to Optanet when FTTP hits Stafford next year (works start June 2023), they already provide our leased line in the tech park and they’re wonderful to deal with, but pretty sure they’re a B2B only provider

Had someone at the door a few weeks back trying to pimp me fibre, despite the fact that fibre isn't here yet. Wanted me to sign up in advance? Told me that my wifi issues I don't have were down to the BT lines, and that virgin use the same lines. He realised rather quickly that he wouldn't get a sale.

EDIT: In Latvia gigabit is normal for residential, costs €13 with TV.

We got our full fibre installed in August here in Worcester, seems like we were one of the first around here as well. Got it done through Talk talk for free .
Not seen any difference myself , but at least we now have the router etc put upstairs in hubby's office since then as part of the free install.

I was recently abroad in a remote area and had access to Musk's Starlink system, the installation guy said it was a doddle to install and I found the speed was incredibly fast at 200 Mbps and not the 100 Mbps as expected. If I was living in the sticks and trying to work from home here in the UK it would be a serious upgrade I might consider but you pay a premium at £80/month on top of the £460 cost of hardware. Pricey but it's a neat and appears to be a reliable system.
