Bus fares max price.

I've just been talking to a First Group driver who advised that the maximum single fare will be £2 from Jan 1st to March 31st to encourage public service usage.

Hopefully other Stafford public transport authorities will do likewise.

Enjoying a drop of red.
You couldn't pay me to get on a bus again.

Not that there's any service worth mentioning where we live anyway.

Too little too late for me. I used to use the bus a lot but it got to a fiver return from the Waggon to town I bailed and we usually walk now. Not regular enough, too expensive, I wouldn't have a clue where to even catch a bus from town to anywhere bar Parkside nowadays. Used the 101 late in the evening regularly after nights out in Stoke but heard that is also no longer a thing? Total reform required before people are dragged out of their cars..

Stafford needs a service like atound here.
I've just starting using the bus since moving to Worcester as regular services from the end of our road (although those from the rough areas we pass through enroute are always moaning every 20minutes isn't enough)
Got at ' tap on, tap off machine thing so you only pay cheapest fare for return/ dayrider etc. I get free bus travel with my OAP bus pass , but hubby has to pay.
Even got another bus service with mini buses picking up even cheaper ( Always only ever been me/us on)

Numerous taxis if we miss the last bus..

Just seen on Sky news that the £2 single bus fare between January and March applies to all single bus journeys so hopefully Select buses will apply the scheme.

I know the bus services are crap in Stafford but hopefully this will encourage more people to use the buses which one day may result in increased services being returned to Stafford. I live in hope but I know this isn't very likely to happen.

Stafford needs a better service .

Got a good service where we live in Worcester , regular reliable buses and really well used. Can even see on the live app how many seats & a countdown to it approaching.

We'll welcome the £2 cap for a while or so for hubby, I'm using my free bus pass.
Normally £2.90 single wherever you get on enroute ( we're right at start of route so works well) £4.70 return, and £5.40 for unlimited all day journeys anywhere in Worcester with a ' tap on- tap off' machine on buses.

Gave up trying to use buses when living in Stafford, as the times we went to catch them they never turned up. Quite often the electronic signs showed them due , but then disappearing off the sign and no bus.

We took a bus trip to Newport for a mini pub crawl on Friday. Great value at £2 each way.

The driver also said that the £2 max single fare has been extended to the end of March which is good news.
