Not that it affects me personally but from an accessibility point of view the Picturehouse must be a nightmare .. At least the Butler's Bell is on one level...

I doubt Tim cares about such stuff!!

Just missed my bus home so thought I'd have a quick pint in the Bellend and boy did their staff live up to the name!!!

I had the dog with me and before I could even ask if she could sit at the tables on the main street I was ushered away staying dogs weren't allowed on the premises. I said that's strange she's sat outside before with no problems and in any case it's a public highway so she can sit where she wants.

Apparently Wetherspoons kinda own the street now which I challenged and was abruptly told they wouldn't serve me anyway.

Walked next door and the staff at Slater's welcomed her with open arms, fetched her some fresh water and a free sausage roll.

Shoukd have gone here first.

I had exactly the same treatment a couple of years ago. It was a really quiet Sunday night a couple of years ago and there was no one else outside, plus we wanted to eat. The staff rushes to the front door to evict us and our 2 dogs from the street seating.

So we moved to Cornwall where dogs are welcome everywhere.

Emmets not so much. The end.

I spoke to someone who works at the Butler's Bell a few weeks back. They stated that Wetherspoon's management is aware of the new 120 room hotel that is to be built opposite, but was unaware if this would result in Wetherspoon's changing their minds or not.
Wait, what?

Interesting choice of site, and can only be a good thing to revamp a dilapidated building and the north end of town.

It would be interesting to see if Wetherspoons change their mind on selling the Bell as well?

However, no doubt some esteemed members of this forum will take exception and find some form of offense to this, perhaps...OOoooo the design and furnishing are nice, but they left the second chair to the left in reception 23.2 degrees too much to the right....no thank you, I wont be going there.....I'm offended...

Could do with a club down there tbh if spoons is axed. Spoons is ok, but always preferred Apres to it, always seemed to have a nicer vibe.

Policing two ends of the high street ?

Nope

The local authorities are confused enough as it is thanks to confusing central government policy

Bringing housing into the centre of towns is one thing, then allowing bars to open until the early hours ? WTF is that all about then

I'm sure the Martin Street apartments owner is delighted with the live music blaring out of the first floor window of the DogHouse

I like live music, i like martin street, but it's a cockup

Gated communities, it's the future
