Just thought I'd let you know that there is an event on right now at Wolverhampton's Civic Hall till 6pm. Vegan Fest, it has stalls, cookery demos, talks and live music. It just popped up on my Facebook as things that are on. I know there are a few of you on here so thought you'd like to know.

It was a successful day - more than 2000 people through the door. Well worth a visit. Some seriously fantastic food there, lots of other stalls, all in all an excellent demonstration that there's no reason not to go vegan.

:( Didn't read this till too late! :emo:
Since he has left our abode to go to Uni', we have been rather concerned about whether he is eating enough! Not unique in this concern of course, but his conversion from Lacto Vegetarian, like the rest of the family, to a more ethically valid Vegan diet, merely added to the parents angst! :ohno: But I have to say if I didn't love cheese so much, would probably join him!

I ate far too much on Saturday...

What do you love about cheese? I can probably recommend a vegan alternative.

Mmm! Variety of flavours/textures, loved blue cheese, but while your at it, a topper for Pizza would be great, lad used to LOVE pizza; they used to do a mozzarella substitute in H&B, but have recently had problems with the supplier so don't stock it anymore. Tried grated 'Cheesley' but didn't really cut the mustard! :soz: So a veggie cheese that you can spread on a Pizza would be very, very appreciated! :help:

I hated it so can't really help you on that one...

I usually use Cheezly Mozzarella style - if you take any sealed, in date pack to Pizza Express they will use that instead of their cheese. I haven't personally come across another one that is so widely available and melty. I find if you don't spread it too thick and leave it to cook long enough it's fine (it tastes pretty rank when raw).

I have tried this one, which tastes great but doesn't melt that well (if at all):

I can't remember what Mr Singh's in Birmingham use but their pizza is pretty good, especially the cheese aspect.

For a pasta bake topping I use Cheezly with some nutritional yeast flakes (contain B12) and vegan parmesan type stuff - just don't use too much of the yeast flakes or parmesan or it gets quite powdery!

As a side note, I highly recommend Violife for cheese sandwiches! It tastes great straight out of the pack - I really like the cheddar and hot peppers ones.
