Car boot sales in Stafford.

Still biggish today. I did enquire over a Record clamp, but it was rather too expensive for me to indulge myself.

I did achieve the purchase of what I would call a 'snail bit', but the internet suggests that few other people do...

I have been known to say "If you go every week, you will eventually find everything you want at a boot sale".

But, I wasn't expecting this...

I didn't partake, being currently jabbed up for both and trying to stay in the outside world's system for C19.

All I got in the 'traditional manner' was a pair of flap wheels.

I went pick up the great unwashed from work this morning (Pets at Home) There were queues up by Pollards old shop to get onto the common for the Car Boot! I love a bargain as much as the next person, but half 5 in the morning is a bit early. I pity the poor sods backing onto the field.

I did think of @littleme as I passed, some of them headlights seemed extra bright on the common. Been a long long time since I went the boot sale at the common.

It's the bloody noise, they have radios on & are hammering & building things. Then there's the smell.....every week either the burger van or donut van park at the bottom of the garden, you can't put washing out as it ends up smelling like frying oil or onions!

I attended today, on the off-chance that it might be on, and it was, although it was starting to drizzle as I got there.

Nothing of any interest to me at all. A brief walk round and back home.

The only notable item was a fairly modern oscilloscope that looked as though it might still work.

This sort of thing.

Quite big today, with the weather looking reliable.

Lots of fishing gear around and a selection of large radio controlled models - and a unicycle.

All I got was a chunky old bench holdfast.

The bloke said he's had it since he was 16 and it wasn't new then, and neither was he now - so, it's probably 1920s or thereabouts. A bigger diameter on the 'spike' than I would like, but it will get use on the 'outdoor bench', for nasty jobs, if I ever actually build that.

A clearly fine, but cold, morning led to another biggish attendance.

All I got, though, was a hacksaw of this type - a spare is always useful and different tpi blades can be fitted in each, or they can just be left in different locations.

It was only a quid and it had a fairly new Eclipse blade fitted, so it was worth that.

As I put it in my pocket, I heard the rattle of something in the top tube, where spare blades may be stored. Investigating back at home revealed that there were four new blades in there, too.

Bargain.

A bit more subdued today, being soggy underfoot.

There was a large selection of Cliff Richard-themed ceramic plates.

I did get a cordless circular saw. I didn't really need another, but this is a right-handed one, so it will be a bit easier to use for finer work.

I did wonder if "starting the vehicle from rest on soft ground" might need to become part of the driving test?
