Full Job Description

Staffordshire is an innovative, successful and sustainable place, with a proud heritage and ambitions for the future – well positioned at the heart of the thriving West Midlands to create jobs, growth and prosperity for local people and to make a mark on the world stage.
With the current leadership of Staffordshire County Council much has been achieved over the last four years – a better quality of life for local people, major programmes delivered to secure future growth and jobs, and substantial changes to how we operate, ensuring we can continue to deliver what local people need at a cost we can afford.
As our new CEO, you will look upwards and outwards, continuing to put Staffordshire on the map for our achievements. You will be hugely ambitious of the delivery of the Staffordshire strategy and will be able to clearly articulate your vision. Your leadership will create a culture of productive challenge and collective responsibility.
Critically, you will bring energy, drive and passion to challenge and instill confidence and ambition within our leadership teams, moving our organisation from confident to courageous, stimulating innovation and dynamism, and delivering better outcomes for Staffordshire.

We welcome applications from senior public sector leaders, or from senior candidates in the private sector who have previous local government experience. Crucially, you will be a big thinker with a proven track record of driving ambition and innovation, and a commitment to delivering our vision for Staffordshire

Someone probably chauffeurs them around, so you wouldn't need a car.

Never understood why anyone in local government can justify pay higher than the PM. They claim they need to pay that to "attract the right people" when all they're doing is hiring the same sort of people with the same sort of ideas. If you want genuine improvements and change you need someone who will question the way everything is done, but then I expect people who want to get anything done wouldn't take a job in the public sector.

Ever noticed how “high ranking” local government officials always seem to come from other local governments.
Possibly because they’d never keep a job in private sector?
