We had 2 white ones, I can even remember the reg No.s of them, over 35 years later.
Both a bag of shite, the footwells rotted, along with the majority of the car.
I think my Dad had 3 variants of Marinas. One was a purple coupe, one was a yellow saloon and the last one was a black and silver Ital.

All rust buckets but they served their purpose for what my Dad needed a car for.

He then "progressed" to a friggin bright yellow/green Austin Allegro just when the BT Buzby adverts came out so guess what the car got called?

We went from the Marinas to a Vauxhall Cavalier L. It was a Y reg. Bloody adored that car, learnt to drive in it, unfortunately, with having 4 rugrats, we needed a bigger car. So, the barsteward got shut of it a month before I passed my test! We then went on to have 2 7 seater Montegos. One was a Friday afternoon petrol engine, worked when it wanted to. 2nd was a diesel, omg I loved that car, if I could have another today I would, but it has to be an estate version.

This was at the boot sale today.

With a small queue of people to inspect its new engine.

It reminded me of the fairly solid-looking Beetle that used to be about, but without any apparent paint on it - not seen that for some time.

There had also been a restored 2CV van, but that went in the time I wandered off, hoping to get a clearer picture later...

Once owned a quarter share (£5) in a 1938 Buick Straight 8 Special. Only did about 8 miles to the gallon. Eventually realised that it was armoured - even the glass - and weighed an horrendous amount. Ownership did not last long

I seem to remember clambering over a Buick Straight 8 in Durber’s Doxey scrapyard many years ago - might that have been the same vehicle ?
