There was a sign on the window saying something about being closed due to change of management, though I severely doubt there's anyone lined up to take the place over. Maybe Raj has finally realised that throwing good money after bad doesn't bring the punters in...

John is taking the castle over completely. Probably had to do stock stakes and all that kind of stuff

Ah! That's really good news. John's sound and has his head screwed on...in fact now I think about it he mentioned some possible plans when a few of us went in there on the night the Railway closed. Hopefully he'll turn it back into the pub that it should be.

Hardly fickle basil...there's nowt erratic about our choice of the Railway instead of the Tavern; we gave the place a good go, and after being given so many reasons not to go there, we stopped! The place has been dead every night since I can remember, and living round the corner from it I walk past at different times of the evening, so it's not just cos I see it at 6pm every day.

They still have the draught cider, but the cider-ice machine is non-functional during the winter months, as there seems to be little call for it. Market forces and all. Summer is not that far away, though.
