Having been away for seven weeks, it was deemed necessary that the premises were subjected to an immediate and full security assessment - including any food items that might have deteriorated over the time.

After several sampling events, she decided to make sure the bed was warmed for me, in case I succumb to fatigue after the journey.

Surprised she's talking to you after 7 weeks, ours would go full on ignore if we left them for a fortnight.

Having had three busy days since I escaped back west on Wednesday, today was always planned to be a quiet, pottering-about day.

I put up a knife rack I made years ago, and a coffee grinder, in the dead space behind the sink in the Shed.

And I fitted a thermometer into the lid of the casserole/oven that gets used on the Shed fire - this should make it easier to monitor the conditions within.

The point of these being in the Cats thread is that it was all achieved under intense supervision, as Full Operational Activity has been resumed.

When she initially took the Shed into her territory, she was a bit sceptical about machinery and the louder hand tools. Now that she has fully assessed the situation, she doesn't bother about anything. The knife rack and coffee grinder involved five holes being drilled into the concrete block wall with an SDS drill, only about five feet from her, and drilling the cast iron lid involved some fairly loud squealing - all done without the slightest reaction.

I have family near Market Drayton who have recently been 'adopted' by a young stray cat (believed to be less than a year old). The cat is currently being fed and sheltered, but they are not in a position to keep it long term and they are now looking for the right 'forever' home for it.

They have named it 'Lucky':

The Carer has just pointed out the state of our sofa... It looks like that cos we have 3 cats that usually sit on top of the sofa back cushions & flatten them down like that...

If you are seriously concerned about the state of my sofa (as the carer thinks you'll all seem to bother) then please start a crowd fund for a new sofa for us & the 3 cats....

I suspect none of you will be bothered in the slightest, as I'm not either.... #life with cats

Still struggling to find a home for 'Lucky'. He's settled into his temporary home but, unfortunately, he cannot stay there for much longer. If anybody knows of a suitable home, please let me know.

Lucky is beautiful, he looks just like our Tommy cat, I wish I could help, but I have 3 already & think 'divorce' might be on the cards if I suggested another....

I wish you the very most luck in finding him a home ❤️

The promised damp. dark, miserable day arrived here just before noon, so I am currently operating under a light supervision regime in the Shed.

Today's task was to fix some splits in tabletops from the second nearest acceptable pub.

This one, in from the left edge, was steadily extending and threatened to run the whole way before too long. It's glued back together now and has a hidden screw reinforcing it at the (previously) open end.

This one had progressed much less and is just about to have the clamps removed, after an overnight gluing session. The G clamp lines up the surfaces and the sash clamp loads up the 'joint' as the glue sets.

They should be OK now, but monitoring will continue. They probably are affected by the enormous radiation from the fire that rages in there in the evenings. There are other small splits in evidence, but I suspect they are stabilised and won't progress much further, but they will also be monitored.
