"Charity" Bags...

Does anyone else get an absolutely ridiculous amount of "charity"* bags through their door on a weekly basis? Pretty sure I've seen as many as five in one week before now.

*read the fine print.

I adore getting a free bag through the post, fits nicely into my kitchen bin and once full, i replace with another charity bag, embrace the bag!

Yep, make great bin liners. I would never fill one of those bags with anything else.

Same here, I use them in the kitchen bin.

Always wonder if anyone actually fills them with charity donations and leaves outside. (I used to, but they started disappearing early morning before the van came around. Realised a nice little earner for someone collecting them up before the official collection and off to cash for clothes places...)

There was once nearly a punch-up down our road when 2 different collection vans drove down the same time and one had thrown the others bags in his van as well as his own.

I put stuff in an ordinary plastic bag in the garage meaning to do this, but noticed a collection van going round this morning, so I flagged him down and asked if he wanted it despite it not being in one of his bags (silly question). Anyway he took them. I don't know where this stuff ends up - I've always assumed some far flung corner of the developing world. So if you see some guys wearing County Council polo shirts in some war zone or disaster area, you'll know where they came from.

They pay as little as possible to the actual charity (£100 per tonne on most of them now) then go and sell it for £1000/tonne over in Lithuania or wherever.

They’re basically paying royalties for pretending to be a charity.

Never thought about litter, I get enough of them that it could replace the Wilko tray liners I buy...

I seem to have had loads shoved through the door in the last few days. I use them for my recycling bin. I did pass a load of filled bags on my way to work , no doubt someone will be off stealing them and taking them to cash for clothes today
