Chico's Mexican in Stone

Has anyone been to Chico's in The Crown Hotel? There are plenty of reviews on TripAdvisor which range from "It's the puppy's privates" to "It's a pile of sh1te", as with most restaurant reviews on there.

I can see from the menu that it's Tex-Mex as opposed to being a proper authentic Mexican, but that doesn't bother us. There's a good range of options at reasonable prices, so hopefully something for everyone.

Hmm...good point! The latest review on TripAdvisor is from 16th August, so perhaps Chico's is a completely separate thing but part of the hotel building...either that or the person who wrote the review visited before it closed down and only just got round to reviewing it...

Quick end to this Mexican Western at The Crown Hotel - so the correct story is Chico's is a separate entity to The Crown Hotel and is very much still open - well it was last Wednesday.

Sorry Folks no can buy The Crown it's like a bad Mexican Western - needs too much work doing to it!! Place is more like a black hole - structurally, architecturally and just about any other way you want to look at it.

Other than that a fantastictly rich building full of history - shame if it sits empty but I'm sure if the price continues to fall someone (not me) will snap it up, trade it for a couple of years and sell it as a going concern and make some cash on it.

I just wouldn't be able to resist the temptation of trying to restore it - hence as they say in Dragons Den - I'm Out!

Went for my friends birthday on Saturday and I have to say it was absolutely lovely, the Vegetable, beef and chicken nachos were oustanding. All the main courses were substantial and very tasty. can't wait for another reason to return!!
