Composite doors - are they worth it and recommendations please?

Despite having a well insulated house it's clear the front door is junk and draughty. Composite doors seem to be all the range nowadays. Can anyone out there give their opinion on them and recommendations for half decent companies in the area that sell/fit them please? Ta

I had a composite door at my old house and in conjunction with new doors, it made a hell of a difference. In the next year or two I am looking to replace in this house and we will go the same route.

Handy if you need that extra two minutes to flush away anything suspicious when the ram arrives

Always wash your hands thoroughly

Son had one fitted and made a big difference from his original double glazed one.

We have a composite front door , and a double glazed back door in this new house. The composite door seems much warmer.

@GNM67 mentioned Target........we had our front Bay windows done with Target years ago and were the best quality windows in the house . Not the cheapest but they were the best buy .

On a fun note

Ensure the door is fitted square to the frame, that the two locks line up, that you have a key safe or plant pot with a spare key in it for senior moments, as they don’t usually go on the latch, and have a large handle, not a thumb thingy.

We're planning on adding one, but the concrete floor of the hallway is both uneven and damn cold. Already raised/insulated the living room, the logical thing to do is raise the hallway too before we get a door, but that means both a lot of work and a period where the door can't open because the floor is too high! So likely a job for the summer, as I'll have the door off it's hinges for a while so I can modify it then get ready for a new one.

Next door I'm getting will be a nice solid wood door. I have a UPVC one where the locks can be snapped/bumped (not in my case, I fitted new locks) and a blowtorch will burn a hole through the panel easily. I do have a porch in front of it too which adds a bit of security.

We had new front door and side panels this week and it’s made massive difference - old one was single glazed wood and let a lot of draught in.

We designed it on Solidor website and Clairs in penkridge ordered and fitted it. Highly recommend the company they have been fantastic.

Went to Clair's Composite doors on the 9th Jan and had a chat with them. Went on the Solidor website, designed a door and sent it to her for a quote.

In the meantime I had received a quote from The Door Company.

So last night I sent an email to Clair's Composite doors asking if they could quote me.

This is what came back (spot the no. of errors !!!)

It was £200 more than the Door Company (before you ask the door has a top light so it's not a standard door)....
