We think of this sort of thing as 'new', but it's always been there - we had it with crash helmets, seat belts, asbestos, smoking, etc...
The internet has just made it easier for people to connect with others with the same delusions and make it 'look' bigger.
I know far more people who genuinely believe the following sort of stuff than I would have realised before around, say, 2010.
Jet fuel can't melt structural steel.
The earth is flat.
Vaccines alter your DNA.
5G is for mind control.
Bill Gates wants to implant a chip in every human.
The Moon landings were a hoax.
The list is endless - Darwin needs to up his game.

I wonder if it's possible that the antivaxxers will survive, protected by the responsible herd, with just those with genuine no-vaccination requirements (or not being able to access the vaccine for economic reasons) being adversely affected?If COVID persists, which it looks like it will in one form or another, I'm sure Darwinism will cater for the anti-vaxxers.

I've seen some of the more out-there anti-vaxxers who believe it's Bill Gates attempting to microchip us all or something to do with the "mark of the beast" in the Bible or the next step towards "project prison planet".
I can tolerate a certain amount of vaccine hesitancy as I think it is, generally, smart not to accept things without question but I struggle to keep a check on the profanity when I see those "arguments" cropping up...

Yeah and the 1918 pandemic even had it's deniers and "hoax" claimants.
I read a book by Laura Spinney recently called "Pale Rider: The Spanish Flu of 1918 and How It Changed the World" which was really interesting, particularly as I honestly wasn't even aware that it was so recent until last year. Crazy how "forgotten" it was, for the most part, in our culture.

Looks like they've found the mystery person who tested position for the Brazilian variant. Let's hope contact tracing does its job, now.

The knobheadwankstainwasteofbreath that my younger sister used live with says he isn't having the vaccine. He reckons that it's just a ruse for the goverment to inject you with a microchip. Man is seriously tapped, and what's really frightening, he was allowed to breed many years ago!

Even hubbys work colleague , who's dead set against vaccinations and medication (she won't even take paracetamol) , is going to have it when her age group is called up. Realises it's not just for her protection but thinking of others too!
(I used to work with a young lad who was in a wheelchair. I'd always assumed that he'd been crippled from birth. Then found out his parents had been dead set against vaccinations and never got him all the childhood vaccinations like Polio/Diptheria/TB/ Smallpox etc . Apparently he'd only been crippled since 16 when he'd caught Polio. If only he'd had that sugar lump!)

Can't help but think that if there was such a thing as a tiny microchip that gave the Government full control of an individual .. that fellah would be an ideal candidate.

I presume you mean for their first vaccination?
I've just tried to book my second one when in due in a few weeks and it says I'm not eligible and to contact my GP for my second jab.

On the Nextdoor site someone was saying that she had managed to book her 2nd jab through the NHS site , despite having had the first one booked through her GP. Others tried and failed, and like me got the message that as the first one was booked by GP, the second one had to be booked through GP as well.
The one's who've managed to book the 2nd one in succesfully , when first one's were booked at showground through GP , were the ones who had the Oxford Astra Zeneca , as the NHS site appointments were being made at Kingston Centre. Kingston only do AZ , so saying need to wait for GP to contact to book for showground if having had Pfizer to make sure you get the same one.
Husband who is 63 with health conditions had his done at showground through GP 3 weeks ago. He still hasn't received a letter at all from the NHS , so it's either gone astray (our post man can't seem to read numbers or street names!) or he's slipped through the NHS booking system. Wondering how many others haven't received the NHS invite through the post when they should have , and still sitting there assuming it's not their turn yet ...

I mentioned about the first vaccination when I called my GPs about a diabetes appointment and they booked it there and then.
I haven't received a letter or a call despite being eligible for some time. Perhaps they've now aligned the letters with those already jabbed and decided they don't need to send the letter in my case.
