They have had both but I'm not taking chances with the threat of variants. It's only recently that they've determined the Delta one still has good protection after two jabs, as early on there were fears it was significantly reduced. Plus they are still isolating quite a lot (they are going out but are having minimal contact with others).

I would consider moving out so I can make decisions a little more around my own risk levels but, unfortunately, another aspect of the pandemic is it's virtually killed my career as a comic artist (cancelled conventions and shops closed for months means less projects, lots of creators out of work and lots of competition) so I have basically no income right now, just savings.

In the long term I'll look back at these years and think we were extremely lucky with our circumstances during the pandemic and will be glad that we were in a position to be able to be so careful, it's just on this particular day I wouldn't half love to mosh with some strangers to heavy music.

Must admit, I'm having one of those days where I'm just so sick of not being able to do anything.

There are things I'd be willing to do at a risk to myself, as I'm relatively young and have had one jab, but I just don't want to risk bringing it back to my household, who are more vulnerable than me. I've been watching a few vlogs from Download last weekend and oh to be at a gig again.

Bingo!

No joke, it’s probably the safest indoor activity right now. The Buzz hall on Queens is massively oversized for the number of people they get in - especially in the evenings when they’ve got upstairs open. The majority of patrons are double jabbed so there’s a much lower chance of actually catching anything, and you’ll probably be a good 10-20m from the nearest person not in your household.

You can only do what you feel comfortable with, irrespective of what others do, at the end of the day..

If I were to come to the UK from the USA I would have to self quarantine for ten days.

So why does Prince Harry only have to quarantine for five days?

I think it’s because in a 10 day quarantine you can pay for a test after 5 days and if it’s negative then you can carry on as normal without having to do the full 10 days. The risk they are taking with Harry is that it it comes back positive then he obviously can’t attend his mothers memorial.

I was reading that some people were paying £200 upwards for a 5 day test but due to back log and high demand they weren’t actually getting the results until day 9 of quarantine, which makes paying £200 on day 5 a total waste of money.

I think quarantine should be assumed for now, and treated as a welcome surprise if not needed. Factor that in if travelling, if you can't do it then don't travel.

One fun thing to come out of this is watching loads of the anti-vax brigade now getting really unhappy about the fact some countries want to see a vaccination for travel. The vast majority of those that I know were also very in favour of us taking back control of our borders, but apparently no other country should be allowed to choose who they let in. Or rather, should always be forced to accept brits because they need our money to survive dontcha know!

I suspect this year will be vaccinated only or quarantine on entry for most EU destinations, then possibly another quarantine when home. Means you'll need 6 weeks off work to go away for a fortnight.

There will be an EU-wide certificate scheme shortly - https://www.gov.ie/en/publication/3a698-eu-digital-covid-certificate/ - although, what, if any, further restrictions may still apply will be a matter for each member state.at the time. Presumably the UK won't be part of this Brussels bureaucracy, even though they will all include an English version..

Does anybody ever check on people quarantining in the UK?

So nothing to do with him living a more authentic life, filled with more compassion than the rest of us then.

Malta has already said they will accept the UK vaccination certificates, as well as the EU ones. I expect most others to follow, but I suspect some may not. I'm a little worried about the rumblings of not even letting vaccinated people into the EU, I had hoped to visit my partners parents before the baby is due (so ideally a few months before, end of August or so), but while she will be able to travel due to being an EU citizen I have no idea yet if I can go too :(

Boy has just advised he's got the 'rona.
Not been out socialising, works mainly from home and when he does go in to work he's usually alone in the office.
Can't be too careful guys.

Fingers crossed he's ok and the symptoms aren't to bad for him @Trumpet.

Yesterday's covid test had come back as negative for me, so I'm now on my 5th different (?) lot of antibiotics, and a different inhaler as the blue one didn't work.

Ignore all that! 'My registered Dr' doesn't agree with what yesterday's Dr prescribed, so I made an emergency dash for blood tests as they shut half day today. Results tomorrow hopefully.
