Forget population, look at rates among those unvaccinated, the picture suddenly looks a lot worse. But TBH feck 'em, as long as the jabbed aren't faring too badly I don't care about the ones that refused it. Just worried about those that can't have it, or too young.

Had someone on FB try to show me government stats to prove if you were double jabbed you were more likely to die, poor guy obviously had no grasp of basic maths as all his evidence showed you were extremely less likely to. So he blocked me, because thats how you deal with facts you don't like nowadays.

I might have given him some credence on Friday evening.

The UK does seem to be putting some effort into going endemic at the earliest opportunity.

As long as they don't start clogging things up for the rest of us.

The test positivity is rising, it isn't just down to more testing.

The Covid ZOE data I often link to uses user-submitted reporting of symptoms and testing to provide predictions (the accuracy of which have been proven) and thus is not impacted by greater levels of testing, other than it obviously increases the accuracy of the predictions.

They estimate that "on average 1 in 205 people in the UK currently have symptomatic COVID" (see previous link).

I wonder how many countries will still let us travel there without quarantine once we do this?

We've been told at work that we will probably be wearing them for another 2 years. Wish we'd worn them years ago, first time I can remember a winter where I haven't been so ill with a chest infection.

On the news I heard that since the wearing of facemasks has been compulsory in various places, old fashioned colds and flu have been significantly reduced.

Also bloody useful if you decide to take up a new career as a bank robber. :lorks:

people seem to forget that they vaccinated by order of age and thus most vulnerable
colour me confused. The mantra has always been wear a mask to protect others. They are either needed or not. Non of this personal choice bs.

It’s a bit of a double edged sword. They’re now saying that this winter is expected to be really bad for colds &flu because less people caught it last winter & so have lower immunity.
Damned if you do & damned if you don’t.

    P. S. I’m pretty sure I’ll be wearing one in places like supermarkets etc & quite a few other places.

Yes, I have been saying for ages that there has never been a better time to be a shoplifter with everyone having to wear masks!

Seems pretty likely given the case numbers.

I think the data is correct, but it being a linear scale makes it a little misleading.

Most of the scales for the entire pandemic that you see where the line goes up and down in three waves are logarithmic scales, not linear, so they show exponential growth and give a sense of when infections are picking up speed.

On a linear scale the distance between all the numbers on the Y axis is the same but on a logarithmic scale the distance between, for example, 1 and 10 is the same as between 1,000 and 10,000 because that represents how quickly cases grow once they reach a certain threshold.
