I see we have a Corona virus infected patient been transferred to Royal Stoke hospital from another region!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/england/stoke_and_staffordshire

Might say everyone else is safe as in isolation but..

When hubby was in ACU with his heart , an isolation patient was put in a side room a few yards away from his bed as they had a really infectious disease and no-where else to put them. Half the time the side ward room was left open, and nurses were walking across ACU directly from treating that patient . Not got much faith in this coronovirus patient not affecting anyone else in the hospital.

I think the always on media helps to cause a lot of panic. We all need to be mindful but we shouldn't get panicked about it. In the most part it will just be a cold. There will be people out there who have it and have no idea, because most people know there's no point going to the doctor with a cold.

Enjoying a drop of red.

My sister has just sent me this, I assume it's from Private Eye.

Regardless of what I said in my last post, I’m not really panicking, (just exaggerating) I’ve just become more aware and I’ve stocked up in case we are required to self isolate.

I’m not walking around with a face mask or avoiding social contact but I am being extra careful on the hand washing issue.

I don’t know enough to decide whether it’s sensible to close down whole workplaces or an over reaction.

Certainty the post above from Lucy puts things into perspective regarding the economy though.

We're getting daily emails at work to remind us what to do, but they've yet to shut any of the sites down.

Husband's German company has so far just banned meetings visiting other countries , unless it's absolutely necessary. But the one part of his German company has even banned inter company visits within Germany.
They have also banned shaking hands and other close greetings.

His boss is just putting a plan into place for working from home , ready for if it should come to it.

( Maybe for the best after all, that son turned down a fantastic job offer in a private school in China when he graduated a couple of years ago. He didn't want to leave his girlfriend at the time . I thought he'd made a bad decision turning down such a good job opportunity. But would have been in rather a panic if he was over there now!)

Watching Question time on TV ...... a question about if you have to self isolate, how do you keep yourself away from infecting the rest of your family living with you... one answer was " Isolate yourself away from the rest of the family . Don't share a bathroom..." Not so easy when most people haven't got a massive house to hide themselves away in, and like us only have the one bathroom containing the only loo in the house..

This is precisely why it will be difficult to contain though.

Yes indeed, but nor can we all go to the doctor. If far more of us than realise have it, then the stats make it much like flu.

Trouble is you don't know whether you have been in close contact with someone who has actually been in contact with it . Could have been standing next to , or passing someone in the shop queue who's coughing and sneezing away thinking it's just a normal cough / cold .

I usually try to steer clear of people who look to have a cold , and hold my breath whilst passing them . But not always possible , like today when I was picking up my prescription from the pharmacy and someone came up to the till whilst I was in mid transaction coughing and spluttering beside me. Just hoping she was suffering with a normal bad cold !

I've rebooked 3 of my Vietnam hotels today as the price has dropped so much...

I have developed a sore throat this week. Doesn't appear to be one of the symptoms but I don't think we really know. I went to the football last night, I will go again on Sunday. It's impossible to keep yourself away from everything and live your life unless you do self-isolate.

If I self isolate hubby will just bring the germs into the house anyway. Looking forwards to a few football matches ourselves as well in the near future so hoping the banning of large gatherings doesn't happen...

I did suggest to my Dad he might have to miss some games, Whitty said yesterday that the elderly may need to stay away rather than them ban gathering completely.

I worry about hubby with him being over 60 and having heart failure, but he doesn't seem worried himself and no way will he miss a match if he can help it.

( Probably in more danger from me....taking no notice and continuing to cough into the air , he got the tissue box whacked in his face earlier in my frustration!)

Might as well give up worrying and wasting my breath , carry on as normal and hope for the best..
