Yes, I wouldn't expect any better from Cressida Dick than we've seen thus far.
It isn't just her, although she may be used to divert attention from the wider issue - the coppers on site were being paid to enforce the law and chose not to do so, for their own (and other people's) reasons - and all the way through the ranks between the two.

There needs to be some genuine quality control applied to the whole organisation.

"Boris Johnson has told schools in England to end the wearing of face masks by pupils, overriding headteachers’ concerns and plans by the education secretary to liaise with public health officials over masks during local outbreaks."

Perhaps he doesn't want them looking like letterboxes?

Can't decide if he's going all out to distract the thick/gullible away from his own failings or full on trying to trash the place before he legs it?
Gesturing, posturing, play-acting, call it what you will...

There is a significant constituency that will be impressed by the 'Freedom day' imagery.

In Ireland, the tendency has been for the "requirements" to be changed on Mondays, to reduce the 'weekend effect', but tomorrow marks a large reduction in the restrictions applied. Mask requirements will generally continue until the end of next month, but most other Covid-type-things cease to be requirements from 6am tomorrow.

It's a calm, dry evening, so I may head out on the bike shortly, for my last (ever?) 8pm closing time.

Without wanting to give the impression that I support Boris in ANY WAY...

Why is it ok for the Irish Taoiseach to announce the end of nearly all restrictions but when that is announced over here it is because we don't know what we're doing?

If the mask requirement was also not being dropped here, then I doubt the reaction would be as strong as it has been, particularly as its the school-age bracket in which rates are currently rising the most (closely followed by the parent age group).

Ah, I didn't realise they were keeping the mask requirement.

Hmmmm the college kids by my work were told yesterday that they no longer need a mask in college *....

*I know this because... We have a staff member who will challenge anyone not wearing a mask, the college lot are the bain of our lives as they come over in large groups on their breaks and lunchtime, we know they have masks as they have to wear them to attend college.... Yesterday the little darlings told us they're no longer required in the college, so therefore they aren't carrying them anymore.

I bet we'll still be wearing them on the ward this time next year. Staff seem to be dropping like flies with the virus. I think out of 35 of us, only 6 have avoided it so far. Myself being one of them.

Mask wearing in Ireland is, in my experience, pretty much 100%, vastly more than in my few weeks back on the Big Island in September and October. The current plan is to keep it into the end of February, as I've mentioned above.

There are many ways of measuring things, of course, depending on what results you want.

I normally do a shop for my folks at around 9am when it's usually quiet, full of older folk and everyone is masked pretty much. Once I had to go a little earlier, about 8:30am when it was full of the pre-college-goers and it was like night and day.

I was in there earlier, I reckon there was 10 or more young girls walking round without masks. I felt like the odd one out.

So, I went out tonight, specifically to compare last night to tonight.

Last night, there were five people in - tonight there were twelve. People were still scattered about the place. It wasn't at all 'compacted'.

It will be interesting to see what transpires, as time goes on.

I did end up with four pints, which is way beyond my recent 'standard' of two-ish. Three of these were not my responsibility, however. they were largely to do with Peltier cell-driven fans - I got one going again and brought a more problematic one back home with me. This resolved into a ride home in 'clear' weather, but with only two cars during the three-mile 'spin' back here.

I had wondered if people were 'saving themselves' for a hard-core night out, but apparently not so.

Errrr ..... I'm not young, I'm not a girl and I'm carrying on wearing a mask regardless what Blow Job says or does in Nr 10 (between piss ups and parties presumably.)

What is it you want me to do ?
Clip the PM ? (Would mean a long drive to London and frankly he isn't worth the cost of a bullet.)

Alert the alien spacecraft that has been hiding in the asteroid belt and firing an insanity beam at the Earth for the last 5 or so years ? (my current conspiracy theory, for which I've put yet another layer on my bacofoil hat.) I sort of admire the aliens for that, much more cost effective than all that fire and brimstone 'Independence Day' malarky.

Start singing ♫'Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day'♪ each morning when I get up ? NOT GOING TO HAPPEN !!

:lol::lol:🤪🤪😱:heyhey:
