County Council has won another grant.

proactive

Enjoying a drop of red.
This time to the tune of £20 million from the leveling up fund.

I hope they ask us how they should spend the money before it vanishes.

The money has already been allocated.

"Major transport projects are to receive £20 million after Staffordshire County Council successfully bid for funding" as if the (Tory) County Council has done well to get the money and the (Tory) Government has been generous in giving it to us, and as if public money hasn't been invested in transport infrastructure since longer than I can remember.
Pathetic.

  • More than £9 million for work at either end of the A34 between Cannock and Stafford.
In Cannock, there will be walking and cycling routes to complement the planned town centre regeneration and link to the train station.
  • In Stafford, there will be the creation and maintenance of walking and cycling routes along Radford Bank to the town centre.🤔

It's about a hundred yards of HS2-style track.

Perhaps there will be a link from Scaffoldshire Towers to where the Brine Baths were?
It'd only be about £14m a mile to reopen the railway line between Aberystwyth and Carmarthen, about half the cost of a motorway.

"We're going to give our friends a load of tax money"..?
It's this. How does levelling up when it involves spending money on tarmac do anything for the local area bar level the tarmac. Not a single penny of this will go in to local economy and it will do nothing for the area bar increase traffic speeds and pollution. I despise these integrity free, corrupt #darenttypeword!
