I'm with Wolverhampton Road surgery and they usually hit the very low bar of providing the most basic service they can get away with but the last interaction I had with them they at least tried to help. So praise where its due I guess. Might just be my very low expectations!

Also, Millets in town, dog friendly and an actual shop we have!

Bought a waterproof to take on holiday and once in Portugal found the security tag had been left on, and yes I had paid for the jacket :)

Took an hour to fight the tag off and in the end had to cut the zip to get it out. Coat still usable and zip works. Mentioned to the man in Millets when I was in there on Saturday and they said even though I'd worn the coat they would give me a full refund. Good customer service that and will increase my loyalty and desire to shop there in future that's for sure

That's good to know. I actually need a new fleecey jacket. I got my last one from there when they were clearing stock before moving shops. The zips always seem to wear out.

Skills to FMS (again)....noticed a few weeks ago the coolant had dropped a bit. filled it up then booked the car in with them. They spent a fair bit going through to check for leaks (including having the car ticking over for a few hours). They couldn't find any issue and passed the car back to me with no charge....

Yes, millets came through for us too, the carer has a new job which requires him to wear safety boots, the boots really hurt his feet, so we went on the hunt for thick natural socks.....everywhere else was rediculously expensive...millets came through with reasonably priced ones that do the job, and he'll be back for more ...

Cuffyy - I always thought it was the case from walking past having never stepped in, but seriously who are these flogs posting as "security" at Job Centre Plus locations.... They have absolutely zero interpersonal skills..

I think anyone likeable wouldn't want a job where you have to throw out people that got sanctioned on their payments for nonsense reasons like the bus was late.

Been to FMS once for an MOT. Car failed on a couple of issues, one being a worn tyre. Decided to go to my usual place to get a replacement instead of using FMS. Went back for the retest (car passed) but was questioned by the receptionist about what tyre I had put on. I answered and she replied "cheap rubbish". It wasn't but it was less expensive than the high price FMS quoted.

I have never been back as I'm not accepting that sort of attitude.

Anyone ever used costco for tyres? They're fitting 4 Michelin Crossclimate 2 on my focus for £260 with £40 back form michelin themselves, seems oddly cheap. Only replaced 1 at MOT as it was essential, but that bargain basement one was £70/wheel.

Only spotted as my wife needs winter rated tyres for the next trip to Latvia so ordered her some, again was easily £100 cheaper than elsewhere for the same (<£500 instead of near £600). I know all season aren't exactly needed in the UK but there is a strong chance my car will go over there too in the coming year.

In case it's useful: https://www.costco.co.uk/c/Michelin-20555-R16-91-H-CROSSCLIMATE-2/tire/p/612592

Never used Costco but Blackcircles are doing them for £85 a tyre including fitting.

As long as they are new, correctly labelled and therefore genuine Michelin and that you check the date the tyres were manufactured (date written on tyrewall) then all is good.

Not a good idea to get tyres manufactured more than say 15 months ago.

Yeah, this will work out £55 per wheel vs £75 at black circles (after the michelin discount). I know it's only £20 per wheel but thats actually quite a percentage of the final cost, and at the moment that saving is needed!

Apparently this range is only a year old so dates should be OK.

The date stamp is a 4 digit code eg: 4521 (week 45, year 2021 )
They’ve been looking at checking Tyre manufacture dates as part of the mot for a few years, it was put on hold 4 or 5 years ago when “they” realised not all manufacturers were putting dates on their tyres. Some EU countries already have regs in place.

Wholeheartedly agree. I was accompanying someone there (the old place in St Chads place) regularly last year & I can’t remember the last time I’d encountered such miserable, ignorant bastards as those on the doors. Absolutely no customer service skills at all.

A customer who is poor, or down on their luck deserves no customer service or politeness. This has always been the way with such organisations. :(

It’s by design.

Same reason they’ll send someone from Stafford to Wolverhampton for a disability allowance assessment, if you can get to Wolves you clearly aren’t disabled right?

Edit: this was sarcasm for the record, however it is the opinion that the DWP take.

It's reassuring to know that the DHSS or whatever it calls itself nowadays, has always been an employment refuge for fascist pigs. Warms the heart.
