To me it boils down to were you paying them for the job or by the hour. We all know roughly how big a job something is, especially if you have rentals that've been done in the past, did you not think the price particularly high compared to other jobs you've had done? If so you needed to mention it at the time though, not after the work is done.

Maybe they sent a better fitter out than the others? If I got told that I'd get penalised for doing a job quickly I'd work slower, but why waste everyones time?

Rentals are carpeted so no comparison as its easier to do, so either time or per yard is going to be considerably lower. Quote from Greyfriers is calculated by the yard also which is calculated from the complexity of laying it down per yard in relation to time. If they quote you a price and say a day and half and it is done in 6.5 hours they have seriously over estimated the complexity of the job for which I had been quoted.
Yes, job is done and paid, I wouldn't recommend them as they should have used their experience to have a better idea of the how long it takes to lay down the stuff they are selling given they had the dimensions of the room to calculate the quote. I'm no expert.
Since then speaking to a carpet layer he said the stuff is easy to lay down as it only needs to be cut to size with a Stanley knife along the room edges and reckoned he could have done the job in 6-7 hours easy for £250 less as no gluing or saw work required, and confirmed it was hugely over charged. The gent who installed it has offered a £100 back which I'm still considering accepting and I'm grateful for the offer, the main issues is the over inflated quote at the start. I have better and other things I would rather spend my money on.

Our cuffy with Greyfriar’s was pre-sales years ago tbh

We walked in there, young couple, wanted to talk carpets. The one time we wanted someone to actually talk to us in a store but instead all 3 of the staff were too busy fawning over an old couple and selling them whatever they were selling. It very much felt like a case of “oh that young couple won’t be buying anything expensive, we’ll focus on bleeding these OAPs dry instead”

I had this when trying to buy a sofa a few years ago.

No sales person even bothered to say hi as I obviously looked like I couldn't afford anything.

When I did eventually choose one the sales rep said 'Oh wow' when my credit check went through....

Happened to us at a place at Junction 9. Spent at least 40 minutes lying on all the beds to decide which was the mattress we wanted, but because we were in hoodies and trainers we couldn't possibly afford to spend a grand on a bed.

We had a rather nice chat with a guy in SCS once, we’d just had the offer on the house accepted and got chatting… Same mortgage broker!

Semi cuffy to Pickups in Mill Street. The dishwasher died a death recently fter 15 years loyal service. I thought I'd try Euronics, you know buying with a conscience and all that. I looked on the Euronics website and it mentioned a free installation and recycle scheme so popped into Pickups to have a chat about it.

I'd seen cats through the window in the times i'd walked past but my god, the stench of cat and smelly cat food was awful. So I mentioned the offer..."its not instore you do it on the website then contact us"....

Got home, went to the website which confirmed as did their chat function thats its an in store offer only (or through the retailers website if they have one...Pickups don't)....

Far too much hassle, so ordered one for the same price at John Lewis....

Cuffy to vision express who totally ignored me in my attempts to buy new glasses so I walked out.

Some kudos to Specsavers who were very helpful until they realised I wasn't having a test so wouldn't provide the glasses until I'd had one. They couldn't fit me in until next Wednesday thereby leaving me with broken glasses for the next 12 days as it takes a week for them to arrive.

They are very slow! Years ago they would be ready the same or next day..... Customer service in reverse there...

I got my last pair at vision express and really couldn't fault it. Super efficient and fast. Times change I guess!
It's crazy, I had to wait for a week for both my new glasses & contact lenses, I don't have a particularly unusual prescription either.

If I order my lenses from 'Feel good contacts' I get them delivered the next day, and they always put a packet of Haribo in there too!

Yeah it's going to be a week for my new pair from specsavers but they can't do the test until wed so they will arrive 1 day before we go on holiday. No stress obvs!

Which you shouldn't have, cos you're a diabetic.

They're not veggie either, beef gelatine. But diabetics do actually need sugary things, when their levels are low they need to take in some sugar. A work colleague who is diabetic was complaining about the sugar tax and how it meant more things were having sweeteners added instead, so he couldn't use them to raise his levels.

Only if you're type 1. I'm type 2, so shouldn't have any sugar, there are huge amounts of sugar in things you wouldn't even think...potatoes, rice, pasta, bread...infact any carbohydrates....

@Glam is completely correct, I shouldn't have Haribo... I usually give them to minime 😁

Sugar free Haribo has rave reviews on Amazon.
