Check your plugs!
If you find a mains plug which has bare brass pins, it's no longer safe or compliant.
Newer plugs have the two smaller prongs insulated half way, this is to stop your fingertips touching those live prongs when you unplug your device!
You should have non-compliant plugs replaced immediately!

Un-sleeved pins would generally be in quite elderly plugs, which can also have other age-related issues.

Thanks for warning. Just been checking all mine, so far OK. (Parents ancient lamp that I inherited , which got broken during our recent move so slung, probably had the dangerous old one on).
Just a big box of 'saved just incase' leads to check now...

Old, solid-pin plugs will (almost always) be 'rewireable', not the current trend for moulded-on fitments, so a straight replacement is usually possible, but some slight adjustment of individual wire lengths may be necessary in some circumstances.
