its been a couple of days since I was on, and your thoughts about a camera has changed, so...
i'd agree with the more recent posts about getting a 2nd hand dslr over the bridge camera. the D40 you are probably looking at won't devalue any more than it is, so you could buy/try with the knowledge you'd be unlikely to lose much if you find its not for you.
