Electronic Cigarettes

If anyone has been thinking of giving electronic cigarettes a go (also known as e-cigs), I have recently been trying a few of the brands available, and can highly recommend NUCIG (visit their website here)

If you don't know what electronic smoking is all about, it's basically a rechargeable battery (the main body), onto which is screwed a vaporizer and a cartridge containing a water solution of your chosen flavour and the nicotine. When you slowly inhale through it, it vaporizes and produces what looks, feels and tastes like smoke! Legally, you can smoke them anywhere too.

I've been on them for just a couple of weeks and I was a heavy smoker (roll-ups). I now only smoke a regular fag (now known as analogues - lol) while my battery is on charge! NUCIG also do a disposable tester cig for just £4.99 if you want to give it a try before buying a full kit.

Sounds bizarre at first, but these things are the only way I've ever stayed off the cigarettes. Even when i had patches I was smoking at the same time, but these really work for me. Hope this info helps someone.

My sister tried these but gave up after a week or so because they are a bit of a faff , do you know if it is legal to use them indoors say in a pub?

they are legal technically to use indoors, but i imagine most landlords will be unhappy about them being used indoors as they look pretty similar to a normal cigarette and could cause confusion and smokers envy. for the price i'd rather just smoke a normal fag, go outside, and get chatting to strangers

Lol - I admit i'm an affiliate, but I would recommend them to forumites in any case as I genuinly meant every word said.

@anomalyaos - Yes they can legally be smoked in a pub. The law states that nothing containing tobacco or that has to be lit - these are untrue of either. However I do agree with dangerousdave that it is likely to cause confusion until they are more commonly known about.

@dangerousdave - you said "for the price" you'd rather smoke a normal cigarette... but these work out soooo much cheaper once you've bought the initial kit. Not only that but you get the nicotine which is harmless anyway and you don't get the other 4000+ chemicals and tar which is what is harmful.

I respect everyone's thoughts and certainly wouldn't insist every smoker tries them, but just wanted to give people my honest opinions about them on the off-chance that anyone has been considering giving them a go. ;)

do they? ive just been on the site and seen that the refil cartridges are around 6.50 for 50 'cigarettes'. Now I know that that is far cheaper than say a pack of bensons, but considering you admitted that you used to smoke roll ups i'd be surprised if you yourself are actually saving money

there's also far less chemicals in rolling tobacco, so i'd be surprised if the 4,000+ you've quoted is again relevant to what you yourself used to smoke

finally, in future, if you're advertising something can you please make it quite obvious. I wouldn't have been aware that you're an affiliate of them, and i think it's quite underhand of you to not state it up front with something like this

Well i'm not directly advertising something, i'm recommending them personally - there's a difference. If someone I recommend chooses to make a purchase of their own free will, then yes I make 10% commission... but as I said before I would be recommending these regardless!

As for the cost, I pay just under 20 quid for 10 of the max volume catridges - each is worth 30 cigarettes. that's 10 packets worth of fags for under £20, roughly equating to £2 per packet. There is cheaper ways you can then do it by refilling your cartridges with e-liquid to reduce the cost even further - but i'm personally happy spending £2 per day to smoke which IS costing me less than my tobacco was ;)

I was responding to your comment that you yourself would rather go outside and smoke "a normal cigarette". I personally don't care whether roll-ups have far less than a normal cigarette or not - the point is that i'm feeling much healthier whether it be 100 chemicals or 4000. Now I don't get any really, apart from the nicotine which i crave.

Shoes - there's actually a very telling statement concealed within this research that "Filters in RYO cigarettes are not always used but they remove almost a half of the tar and nicotine" which suggests that the RYO (roll your own) cigarettes used in their research did not have filters. this would suggest that they are actually making comparisons between two very different products (granted, some people do not use filters but the majority do amongst the people i know who smoke roll ups), which would then lead me to believe that the research is biased.

Of course, all (well, most) scientific research is biased, you just have to look at who has paid for it. I've seen research showing that the children of smokers are less likely to get lung diseases as they have built up a tolerence to the nasty stuff.

Just in case anyone is going to purchase, put my ID number of 9118 in the referred ID box at checkout and you'll get a 10% discount on your first order (only applies if ordering either a starter kit or full kit) - and YES, I get rewarded as well as the buyer, and all buyers will get the same opportunity when recommending their friends too. ;)

It makes no odds whether roll your own or packets of fags are the worse.
Just give up, and give yourself a chance of a decent life.
Personally I'd like to live beyond 70 with all my limbs intact.
Thank you very much.

Besides the nicotine is still present right?
The nicotine isn't what kills a smoker (or passive smoker for that matter) though. The nicotine is what we become addicted to but it's the rest of the crap that comes with a standard cigarette which is harmful.

On another note about Pub owners, they should encourage this and even SELL them. The e-cig could start slowly pulling trade back into the pubs - they lost so much because of the smoking ban which is one of the biggest causes of pub closures around the country. I agree with what you are saying, and they probably wont be too happy at first, but this is where landlords need educating to realise what a great thing this could be for them.
