Executions.

Do we know where the two were transported to?

It seems a little early for Australia.

Presumably Ireland, Scotland or New England?
According to the National Archives, it says it was either North America or the West Indies.

Moll Flanders was 'transported' to Virginia.

I remain unconvinced that 'drawing' by hurdle somehow transmuted into the 'drawing' of 'hanged, drawn etc', though it is an interesting idea.

It would have been humiliating enough, certainly, for our terribly class-ridden society to have ranked it as a punishment in itself, but the punishment is a lot older than the recorded examples you give, and the mores that you describe.

A meat hook was drawn from sternum to pubis - i don't believe we need to look any deeper than that.

Or you could look deeper at the word 'drawn' which is derived from the Old English word 'dragan', to drag.

But people still talk about drawing chickens & turkeys when they mean removing the innards - a very old use of the word.
