A really simple question - just wondered if anyone had any local knowledge of Featherstone in anyway, shape or form? Crime, schools, trouble, nice walks, transport, gossip ... anything?

A search of the forum lists a a nice Indian restaurant, but the post is from 2007.

had a relative who lived there for some years, he was keen to move out, I think the school they sent there child to was Coven primary school which was very nice, I cant remember if there was a school in Featherstone but Im sure there is a private day nursery there.
The kings repose, I think was the Indian which was very nice about 10 years ago, but havent been there since the relatives moved.
there used to be a couple of shops-newsagents, off licence. think the local pub was the red white and blue-relative didnt use it though.
sorry not much help its been a good few years since I visited there.

I had a 'friend' who lived there. ... The school had a good reputation and the 'village' had a strong sense of community - whilst being perhaps a relatively 'less wealthy' area.
Particularly strong community values in the Park Road area

Featherstone was popular with single mothers.. it maybe still

Featherstone expanded with the local pit Hilton Main which closed in the early 70's. It used to be a bit of an insular place with the local The Red White and Blue being the sort of place outsiders stayed well clear of.
Over time things change with new housing turning Featherstone into a commuting village into the West Midlands. Like many other villages in south staffordshire- Essisington, Coven, Cheslyn Hay etc- featherstone isn't a bad place to live but you need a car.
