Very interesting information - thank you!

No trespass as far as I could tell but I wasn't paying attention, was trying to find a vantage point. I didn't cross any boundaries as it's all gated off.

Trespass is not against the law in this country and also you are not even trespassing until you are asked to leave and don't .
Are you quite sure about this?

I'm not in the position to check fully, aka i cannot be ars*d to do so, but property rights are pretty much sacrosanct in this land and i'm fairly sure that trespass used to incur quite severe penalties.

I'm not saying you'll be transported tomorrow, but i'd be surprised if they had relaxed the rules as much as you say they have.

I am sure that is the case now but not for railway property or military . The most you can get is told to leave .

I shall bow to your greater knowledge, and shall sleep all the better for it. :)

Was it actual cops or just security guards? Cos pretty sure rent-a-cops can't really do FA?
Security guard but they had the po po on the radio (shell is considered a site of great strategic importance to the country and it very heavily guarded), they were checking my numberplate against the police national computer and he blocked my vehicle. I had my girlfriend with me too and wasn't prepared to go through the whole waiting for the police to arrive and then arguing with them until they arrested me and then having someone else (chloe had been drinking, and also isn't insured) move my car as we were a good 20 miles from home.

if i were alone I would have probably just waited for the police to arrive, but not being one or bravado or showing off in front of the girl I deleted the pics and left.

Thanks for all the info though, I think I might have to head below the m'way to get the right shot :)

Were you on a highway when you were obstructed?

If you really were breaking any laws, then deleting the images would be destroying evidence thereof. http://www.urban75.org/photos/photographers-rights-deleting-images.html

These events are usually just jobsworths pretending to protect the general public by intimidating innocent people, with a view to generating an image of effectiveness.

The Gardaí have been known to issue directives to stop filming on the highway...

Take nothing but Photos and leave nothing but footprints

Etiquette... we have similar interests, lets talk Castle Works (pm)

Edit... also, regarding trespass laws.... the LAW says dont cause loss (damage/theft). The rest is just legislation... theres a big difference
