Flu jab.

Never had the flu, rarely get a cold but I have been persuaded to have the flu jab
for the first time as "This australian one is nasty". I had a tender lump on my arm
for a week and a rash all over, none of which bothered me, so all in all not a bad
outcome. :D

Most Australian things are nasty - except, perhaps, koalas.

Edit - and Barry Humphreys.
Perhaps Koalas should join the nasty group as well as a breed they are riddled with chlamydia. Got a soft spot for Dame Edna s/he's safe.
OH booked me for a flu injection down the local chemists for £12 a shot on our wedding anniversary..

I had the flu jab once about 10 years ago - which was followed within days with the worse few days of my life with full on flu.

I've never had it since. The jab or flu.

4 days on for me too & the last 4 days have consisted of a 4 day long headache from hell that nothing would shift and the amazing ability to fall asleep & stay asleep all day and all night, plus the feeling of being hit by a bus...

To add insult to injury I have to keep away from micro-mini-me. :( GRUMP!

However I feel better today & havent got flu thankfully.....

I had the flu a couple of weeks ago, and it was only up to the last two days that I felt good. Unfortunately due to one of my work colleagues, I'm not calling her a friend, cos she isn't. I am now in the early stages of a cold. She'd had a few days off work with her own cold, and came back to work coughing and spluttering all over everyone. I was going to go into work and have my flu jab. I'll have to wait at least another 2 weeks now till all remains have gone.

... the feeling of being hit by a bus....
Was it a bus that was on fire for a few minutes, then a bus that had turned to ice for a few minutes, then on fire again, then ice cold again, then every single one of the joints of your body hurts because they have individually been hit by a fleet of buses honing in on them?

When you were on fire did you sweat like you thought no more water could possibly actually escape from your body? When you froze did you feel like the sweat had encased you in ice? Did you feel like the ice entombed you?

Pretty much like that for an indeterminate number of days because time itself seems to have stopped operating because all that there is is this unmitigating pain, heat, ice, and violence?

That's something like what flu is.

No, as it was a flu JAB, not flu - as I already stated, & thankfully my minor reaction was nothing like the reactions of some of the zombies people I'm in contact with on a daily basis....

I am still not scathed by the event in any way.

Interestingly, I discovered the receipt for it last night and notice that the service provided is described as "flu jab". A pleasing lack of professional pomposity.

Maybe you got a better quality version of the jab as you paid for it, & as a sufferer of a chronic illness mine was a freebie! :lorks::chef:

How do I edit this?
I had mine yesterday morning. I spent the afternoon feeling fairly lethargic but I wasn't entirely sure whether that was down to the jab or a late night Thursday.

Joints are a little bit achy, particularly my knuckles & the arm that got jabbed is pretty sore, though obviously not too sore for me to type this on my tablet with it.

Being generally healthy except for the occasional bout of wheezing, I've always ignored my GPs letters offering the jab but this year as I was organising one for the boy I thought I'd make an appointment for me as well. It's probably a sign that the feeling of immortality that insulates our youth has now entirely subsided...

The vaccine is produced by varying private businesses so there will be varying quality versions. Be they paid at the counter or paid via taxes
