Had a shin beef caserole a few weeks ago, very nice. This month I have mostly been eating pork and lamb, both were on cheap at various supermarkets. Not so much a fan of beef as a joint, but love steaks.

Tonight I have corn fed chicken breasts, filled with garlic cheese and wrapped in oak smoked streaky bacon, with ham tortellini in a tomato and chilli sauce and topped with cheese. Should be good :D

Just realised the time, should be in the oven!

Weird isn't it, the cheaper cuts are often the best when cooked right. Especially with a slow cooker, as long as its not full of gristle even the poorest cuts of meat taste great. Still not mastered curries in it, but steak and ale with chillies rocks!

Just a thought, but both beef and pork joints seem to be half price again at Tesco and Sainsbury. I think Sainsbury also has ducks at about £3.50/kg. No idea if any of this will last til Christmas though.

I like meat :teef:

EDIT: The pork in both places is just leg though. Was the shoulder a few weeks back, much nicer in my opinion.

LMAO, seen that a few times! Once got elbowed in the ribs by a chinese granny, was scared because we all know every oriental knows kung foo! I have in the past picked up some amazing deals by being there at the right time, but I swear some people sit in wait. Its like watching lions stalk a wilderbeast, the poor lass with the reducy gun thingy appears and she's swamped!

Besides, my freezer is full of random meats. If I ever do see owt worth having I just freeze it, unfortunately due to a lack of barbecue weather this year my freezer is still full of meats to burn, they just don't taste the same on a george foreman.

Pork spare rib chops are a cheapo fave at the mo, a couple in the slow cooker as I type. Also have been getting diced mutton off Birmingham market recently, great for curries. Mutton mince on offer too which is really tasty in shepherds pies.

Boned, rolled shoulder of lamb. Slow roasted for about 3 hours, it falls to pieces and is simply delicious. Cheap, tasty and easy peasy, leaving you a nice amount of time to work up an appetite in the pub whilst it's cooking!

The secret of a good meal :D
Certainly is! I went to see some family in Hertfordshire this weekend and my dad cooked a rib of beef. It was rare/medium rare and incredibly tasty, but far too expensive for me to be buying.

Another cheap favourite of mine is belly pork...slow roast this puppy and it's so juicy and tender you're better off eating it with a spoon rather than a knife and fork. This is what I had in a restaurant on Friday night...as you can imagine, i'm slightly more rotund this week that last!

+1 on the belly pork, where can you get it unsliced in Stafford?
I'm pretty sure Barry Johnston and/or Ian Street on Stafford Market do it unsliced. They're both really friendly fellas so if they haven't got any unsliced in then i'm sure they'll get you some.
