Hi all, any tips on the best place to source Seychelles Rupees, probably looking at sourcing at the airport once we're over there. Any tips on best exchange currency eg Sterling, Euros or Dollars?

Have sought advice from someone in the know on here but any other tips appreciated.

Get a Halifax Clarity Card, and use that for purchases abroad. If you take cash out through it you incur interest from the transaction date, but the exchange rate is the best you'll get.
My daughter's backpacking in South America at the moment, and I'm keeping an eye on her accounts. She seems to be using her Halifax card for purchases and her Barclaycard for cash withdrawals.

A halifax card is probably best. I use revolut and monzo, but both have moved from unlimited withdrawals to only the first £200 free per month when abroad and a fee of about 2.5% after. No fees on card transactions though, and you get the interbank rate.

I've got better rates from local exchange bureaus by ordering ' click & collect' on-line . Better rates doing that than just walking in and buying them on the spot. Asda worked out better most times, and picked up a day or two after ordering.
But got the best deal on Thomas Cook last time . Reserved to pick up the same day and paid in store, getting a much better rate than asking over the counter .

Nowhere local can get me Seychelles Rupees. Tried Barclays, Nat West, Co-Op Travel, Thompsons. (or is it Thomas Cook opposite Co-Op Travel?). Now looking at Euros as have been advised that they are widely accepted over there.

I don't think this is going to help you either in time, or in this particular incidence, but WeSwap is worth exploring.

It rather depends on how much actual cash you will splash - or how much will be on the plastic fantastic.

I once asked someone where the nearest bank was, and he told me that they didn't even exist. He was not wrong for many, many, hundreds of kilometers.

Seychelles will work on International, one would expect - dollars or euros, whichever is ascendant.

Don't know how long you've got but have you tried The Money Shop on the Newport Road. It's where I always go for currency, they've always given me the best "over the counter" rate in Town & can get most currencies next day if they haven't got stock in branch.
The Halifax Clarity card is the best card to use. You get the best rate available & pay a small interest charge on ATM withdrawals. Using online banking to pay his off asap can reduce the interest charges to a few pence.
If you're taking either Sterling or euros I'd stick with Sterling. Changing to euros & then changing to rupees will cost you twice in conversion costs.

And South Africa hopefully. Off there for a month soon :)
Heard there's been an increase of credit card scammers in J'burg, might be worth getting a post office travel cash card (Mastercard) if heading that way to limit. You can top up the card via post office app on your smart phone if needed.

Thank you. I'm hoping to deal mainly in cash via cashpoints inside banks and then just carry what i need in my pacsafe cross body pac. Totally recommend these for travelling to dodgy places, or as its usually described, independant travel 😂
