A moment's pause, to take stock of what we've become in only 12 months, and to publicly thank every single one of the tech volunteers, without whom, this entire venture would be unsustainable.

Every one of these purely decent chaps deserve a mahoosive pat on the back for what they have done and continue to offer since last January, and I count my blessings daily. Some of those in fact have worked on projects just like this, alongside myself, for many many years previously too.
Free IT, and society, is indebted to them all :)

Unexpected circumstances in the last couple of weeks have caused us to need a bit of an impromptu structural reshuffle, and as responsibilities are distributed we'll be lagging a little. We're currently running on limited resources, and those we have are a little disorganised.
We are ironing out as many of the delays as we can, as quickly as we can, but please bear with us if we're not immediately able to respond to your calls and emails.
Our tech team are still busy with your donated items and we'd still love your support to help us with replacement parts and our running costs, so if you like what we're doing please buy us a brew at www.ko-fi.com/freeitstafford

We are elated to be able to announce that we've welcomed onboard our first corporate monthly sponsor!
A massive thank you to Doc's Mobile Clinic in Stone, who will now have their logo added to every PC and laptop that we rehome :)

- Changes to our terms -
We've recently had to cut back on our delivery options.
We rely on our volunteers to help us deliver items to their new homes around their own commitments, and this can cause delays in applicants receiving an item.
We will now offer to post items. We'll try everything we can to personally deliver equipment, but we ask applicants to agree to pay our postage costs prior to despatch if that can't be worked out. We'll also make the equipment available at our collection point in Stafford for no fee.
Our standard postage fee will be £6 for tablet PC's and £12 for laptops, per item. This covers the counter fee, a small insurance premium, and our packing materials. For desktop systems we'll discuss the best method depending on the quantity and any included peripherals.
The equipment itself remains free of charge.

*Volunteer installers*
We're looking for I.T. competent people to deliver and install refurbished equipment to various locations around Staffordshire, to help us fulfil promises we've had to put on hold following a serious illness in our current team.
You'll need to have experience setting up PC's and laptops onto printers and network drives, fault finding any issues, and have some fundamental knowledge of I.P. networks and often be confident to communicate 121 with ISP's.
Sometimes you may be accompanied by one of our refurb technicians if you need an extra chuck.
Further knowledge of DNS and VPN's, and CCTV, would be handy in a couple of cases.
Importantly, you must be a car owner, and you are obliged to inform your insurer of volunteer driving. It's also preferable that you live in the Stafford area.
We can't afford to pay a wage, but we'll pay a good rate for your mileage. We'll write you a blinding reference for prospective employers, and giving time voluntarily fills gaps on your CV and looks very favourable.
If you think you fit the bill, and have some free time during weekdays and want to help us make a difference, drop us a line
🙂

A huge thank you to every one of you who's made even the smallest donation to our PayPal, it all adds up and this week we've been able to use your contributions to refurbish and rehome even more of your unwanted equipment:
- 6x desktop PC's to Rugeley Army Cadets
- 3x laptops to Stoke Air Cadets
Massive respect to Tom for doing courier duties for both of these great causes.
We don't get main stream funding so we rely on the support of local fund raisers and you lovely people. If you'd like to help us buy the repair parts we can't escape paying for, you can make a 'friends and family' pledge at www.paypal.me/freeitstafford
