We've been super chuffed today to be able to help out Hearts And Hands, who are doing amazing work in our community.
We've refurbished and gifted one of your kind donations of redundant laptops to assist with administration and advertising work, something which has been very welcomed and would normally have been out of financial reach

We've gained quite a collection of CD's and DVD's which have been left in the drives of your donated laptops.
If you are concerned that you'd left a CD or DVD in your drive and considered it gone for good, drop us a line as we may still have it.

If you like what we're doing you can nudge us on our way by donating to one of our secure crowdfunders. None of us profit from this project, we rely on your kind donations to fund parts and ongoing costs.
-Using our liberapay you can opt to help out on a regular basis with consumable materials, things like sanitisers, batteries, gloves, even post-it notes that we use throughout the refurbishment process.
www.liberapay.com/freeitstafford
-Using our targeted crowdfunder you can make a one-off donation towards a set amount which we've determined to replace a particular part on a broken device which is too good to scrap, or for specialist tools or equipment for niche repair jobs. www.crowdfunder.co.uk/freeitstafford
-A lot of coffee gets used. If you'd like to prevent us from sleeping you can buy us a brew.

-You can make a one-off donation of your chosen value directly to our PayPal for whatever purpose you see fit.

Just a very quick, but massive, THANK YOU to every one of you who has pledged financial help into our crowd funders.
You've enabled us to buy some crucial (albeit quite boring) spare parts and chargers, which have repaired some really poorly laptops and as a result allowed us to help several more families during our very first appeal which we just couldn't have done otherwise.

We're pleased to have been able to help out Flood Action with a jazzy laptop for their volunteer team.
This means that funds which would have been used to purchase something like this, can now be much better used elsewhere in their mission.
Here's Michael from Flood Action (left) accepting our donation from freeIT tech guy Brett (right) who refurbished this device.

Our news feed hasn't been too active the last few days, but it's been all go for us behind the scenes, and we bring you a couple of updates...

We're in the closing stages of our joint venture with a local mental wellbeing charity. In between refurbishing donations from the public, we've been busy fixing up 20 of their own surplus machines on a "rinse and return" basis. Once the project is complete, all of those can be gifted to their own clients who are isolated, but who are set to benefit from the equipment in order for them to access online wellbeing clinics and remote counselling and support sessions. We'll tell you all about it once we're done!

Our constitution document, or if you prefer, "mission statement" is now prepared, as is our GDPR policy. These documents have been signed by our 3 newly appointed trustees, and will be submitted to a bank next week. This will allow us to open an account in the name of freeIT, and in turn, will satisfy one of the pre-requisites we need in order to apply for long term funding. We're starting out for our first year as an "Unincorporated Association", then we'll decide next March which recognised legal status will suit us best.

We're also in negotiation with a local business centre who provide a novel service called a "virtual office". Primarily this will allow us to remove some of the administration work from our various kitchens and dining rooms and have a central point for phonecalls and mail and parts deliveries, plus some pay-as-you-go conference facilities for what we envisage will be several upcoming meetings with funders and other organisations, in order to progress freeIT to the next level.
Finally, we're still (and always) accepting your equipment donations, which will be refurbished and gifted back to the community. We have a small stock accumulating and while we face the inevitable delays of bank accounts and administrative paperwork in the next few weeks we've every intention of continuing with this core mission and keeping you lovely people updated as we go

Your support has been overwhelming and is incredibly motivating!

All of us here at freeIT would like to offer a massive round of thanks to our friends at Silkmore Community Partnership, for their "sizeable" donation to our start-up and first year running costs :)
