We've currently got 3 iPads which are iCloud locked by previous owners. If any of these emails look familiar to you (most of it is hidden by the iPad, not us) and you've recently donated an iPad, please please log in to your iCloud and remove the activation lock :

We'd love to have one of these made up with all our jazzy graphics on so that we can start attending pop-up markets and events to raise awareness about our project.
Any local signwriting firms care to get involved with us and make us one? Um... for free? We'll give you plenty of social media publicity in return

Will you sponsor us?
We'll place your ad on the background of every PC and laptop we rehome for Β£15 a month, no strings, and we'll plug you relentlessly all over our social media which has a reach of tens of thousands!
We'll also keep you updated with our accounts so you'll be able to see who we're helping, where your ad is being seen, and how we're spending your pledge :)
If we can find 10 more of you to join in with our current sponsors, we'd be able to meet the threshold to apply for proper charity status, and open so many new doors!

Even when our news feeds are quiet, you can be sure there's a hive of activity behind the scenes, as represented here by the current workload of your donations being refreshed by our tech guy Tim.
Thanks Tim, and every one of the volunteers that give up their time and dining rooms to revamp all your unwanted tech!

We'd like to thank the lady R.A. who made a very generous donation to our PayPal last week, your pledge has gone towards some parts which will repair two PC's headed to home schooled clients of MindJam: https://mindjam.org.uk/
Could we please ask anyone else who'd like to help us make a difference through www.paypal.me/freeitstafford that you mark your donation as "friends and family" instead of "goods and services", otherwise PayPal takes a chunk of your donation for their admin fees

**An appeal to local tech guys**
Please don't throw out your laptop DDR2, it's dated yes but still relevant to us!
We have several Vista-era laptops with 2 RAM slots and which will run Windows 10 perfectly fine with 4GB of DDR2 and an SSD.
However, we don't have any 2GB sticks of DDR2!
Help us get these laptops back to working order by letting us have any spare DDR2 2GB that you might have stuffed in a drawer

Huge thanks again to our PayPal supporters and sponsors, you've all been so generous and as you can see, your contributions in the last few weeks have allowed us to buy a stack of parts to restore some very broken laptops back to their former glory.
Now we can get those out into the community where they are desperately needed πŸ™‚
We'll always replace unusable, unrepairable, damaged or dangerous parts as part of our refurbishment process, and we couldn't do this without you all.
If you're considering buying us a battery please visit our PayPal at www.paypal.me/freeitstafford and choose a 'friends and family' payment so we don't incur fees πŸ™‚

Currently a heavy machinery operator, he also has a keen interest in military history and can sometimes be found wandering the relics of Cannock Chase.

Eleanor (Secretary)

Eleanor has been involved with a myriad of local non-profit projects, and has an acumen for community matters, developing relationships within local government over many years.

* Meet our trustees! *
Jack (Treasurer)
Jack has been a huge part of Free I.T. since day one, and for years before while we were operating unbranded.
A trained electrician, Jack owns a disco business and works part time in a local shop. He's a sucker for a quiz night, and is highly family oriented.
Jack is well versed in modern tech, and is one of our longest serving voluntary "tech guys" but is now also formally responsible for ensuring that our books are in order, that we're always equipped with spare parts, and that we have everything else we need to operate as a viable, auditable non-profit project.

We're chuffed to welcome on board our newest sponsor, Cowshed Works web design!
As a corporate sponsor we'll splash your advert on our social media and install it on the background of every PC and laptop we rehome, and in addition we'll send you regular spreadsheets so you can visualise how your pledge is being used and where your advert is being seen

* Zero to landfill *
Although we have no formal independent certification, as this would involve huge costs, we run our project with a "zero to landfill" policy.
We always try to repair and rehome as much as we can, but inevitably there will be items which we can only use for parts and the remainder has to go somewhere.
Our equipment waste is sorted by material, for example hard plastics, rubbers, mixed metals, aluminium, copper, dead batteries, etc.
Some of those we're able to cash in, which allows us to add funds to the project, and the rest is disposed in to the correct sections at the recycling site by our volunteers.
We're registered with the Environment Agency as a charitable lower tier waste carrier, broker and dealer

Tomorrow another 5 of your unwanted laptops, which we've restored and serviced, will make their way to Wolverhampton City Council's adult education service.
From there they will be allocated back into the community, to clients who are suffering digital poverty
πŸ™‚

It's a pleasure to be working with Giorgia, Gemma, and Jamie, to ensure this equipment reaches the people who desperately need it!
