Gaol Square bus stops.

I couldn't find the bus thread so created a new one.

Whilst waiting for a "timetabled" bus at Gaol Square "Interchange" my bus approached in the next lane to the usual stop.

I managed to flag down the bus and the driver got out and pointed to various notices saying the stops were out of use despite the displays saying what the next bus actually is.

He said he wasn't interested what the signs actually said the stops weren't operational.

Apparently I should have got on by the Gatehouse.

This may be the same for other services during the day too and even Select buses own live website says Gaol Square stops are operational so please check where your bus is departing from.

Signed by a self confessed bus w*nker 😂😂😂

I catch a bus home from Gaol Square about once a month and so feel able to comment.
I don't think anything can be called an "Interchange" without a monitor clearly showing in chronological order information such as (a) intended departure time (b) bus service number (c) final destination (d) bus stop number and (e) whether it's on time or however many minutes late.
I don't think anything should be called an "Interchange" without the five bus stops being numbered and I couldn't see a "1", "2", "3", "4" and "5". This afternoon I could only see a "6" on what I think is "2".
Furthermore the monitors at bus stops should be reasonably accurate. At my nearest bus stop just over four hours ago the 828 into town within a minute went from "14 minutes" ( so a quarter of an hour late ) to "due" to it arriving. At Gaol Square for the 4.55pm departure of the 828 today it disappeared from the monitor at about 4.52 and a potential passenger gave up, then the bus arrived and I was the only passenger when it departed by 4.54pm. [ Edited : I've realised that the failings of the monitors, which are usually quite good, could have been from the global computer problem that had many shops "Cash Only" ]
Also anyone awaiting the 828 for Lichfield via Tixall might see a 74 (Cannock) bus arriving not knowing that it's about to change its number. Then, this being last month before the road works, on it heading towards the Lichfield Road they'd think think they were on the wrong bus rather than than the driver forgetting she had changed to a different route.
We're meant to use public transport instead of driving and deserve better.

Looking at Google street view, it looks like Arriva took all the signs with them when they withdrew nearly all their Stafford services.

The 828 bus between Stafford and Lichfield now runs seven days a week including Sundays.
I only know that with seeing an A4 sized poster at Rugeley bus station but there were several passengers on it each way when I used it for the Sun and the Railway yesterday lunchtime.
