The wilko thing would work with something like that i was going to attempt it myself this year. The timer things arent cheap though.
Yeah, noticed the prices of timers :(

There are cheap ones, mechanical jobbies that only work once though so gotta be set each day. You set them to between 10 mins and 2 hours, and after that time they turn off. Are only about a fiver I think, so could be useful to hit before you go to work in the morning. At least it saves coming back to turn the tap off (how lazy am I!).

Know any nurses? They must be chucking intravenous drips out every day. I'll see what 'someone' can get hold of. You would have to wear a surgical gown when you're in the greenhouse as well, of course, just to really spook the neighbours.

You must be joking!? Get hold of one in the hospital is a job! And shall I shove it under my uniform? "No Mr Security. Nothing to declare..."

Notice how I was careful not to implicate you! And what happens to the old ones, then? Do you have to count them back in, in case you've left one inside?

Oh, I was thinking about the pumps. You really don't want used drips, honey. And I would never suggest nicking any unused ones publicly.

That's why I used the word 'drips'. It's no wonder that the wrong kidney gets cut out every now and then. And I maintained the anonymity of the intended culprit rather better than you did. I also agree that nicking things publicly is a bad idea, in general.

Well nearly all the toms have started sprouting, 14 so far. No movement on the chillies yet, but we still have plenty of time. The greenhouse is now cleared at least, and we've cut off the branches we don't want from the apple tree. Hoping it doesn't die, but no great loss if it does.

Wonder what else I can plant to get self sufficient BBQs? When is it best to plant a lamb chop?

Haha I don't know, I bet Wanye's old room had a few interesting specimens growing in there!

In a greenhouse, although for the last few cold evenings they've also been in a fish tank for added protection! The chillies are in another fish tank indoors, with a heat mat and a UV tube attached.

I have a further tank that I intend to use as a mini grow room, full thermostat controlled ceramic heater with daylight simulation light tube, left over from my reptile keeping days. Almost seems a waste, as it cost a fair bit, but I have no use now and its ideal for giving veg the right start. That'll prob house the peach habenaros til we get some real sun :D

Ordered the Strawberry's aswell. I would of thought your Toms will be fine from now on in a greenhouse. Ive had some lettuce seedlings outside with no cover for a couple of weeks and the weathers done them no harm.

Ive a feeling i might have alot of spare seedlings (variety of lettuce, rocket, beetroot , spring onions, carrots, leeks, parsnips, raddish, might be more i forget now) once i start thinning them out. If anyone else is interested in any and has a glut of something else (i know tek said he had lots of toms) i wouldn't mind doing a bit of swapping.
