Copper tape but make sure you complete the circuit, egg shells, a beer trap and epsom salts are a few things that I've heard are slug deterrents.I planted my tomatoes yesterday, I am hoping the slugs don't get to them...
I've not seen one for about a year now sadly. I've managed to attract a blackbird to this new garden, he's having a go with our slugs and snails but could do with reinforcements. We are so far keeping them off the important stuff but they are legion and a bit of a slimy shock when you pick something up and get a handful of divorced snail lol. We are so far sending a lot by air over to the green space over the back fence. One of these days a dog walker is going to be surprised.Get some thrushes.
Mine just amble around all day, chewing - and I never see a live snail or slug.
Luckily we seem to have quite a few here. I hope yours arrive soon.Has anyone noticed a distinct lack of bees around? My strawberries are usually swarming with them but this year just an odd bumble bee
Yes lots here to, especially the tiny bees.Luckily we seem to have quite a few here. I hope yours arrive soon.
A good number here too, including some in the wall, which may not be here for much longer.Yes lots here to, especially the tiny bees.
That's the bit of paper I got it to climb on.. Back out in the garden now.Or ladybird?
But, more importantly, your skin's a bit blotchy...
Chap on the right there is ready to do the barking?
Garden is getting there, slowly but surely. The weed fabric covered areas will be edged and barked eventually.
My experience of these is that you can knock it back bloody hard and it still keeps on growing.Flowering for the first time in the garden - now need to find out how to prune it safely, grows a bit

We had one of those hummingbird moths about three summers ago.Pottering in the garden today on my day off, so far Ive seen 2 of the biggest spiders in the world which seem to be living by the back door, and a large moth that thinks it's a hummingbird going from flower to flower.
Anyhow, today's gardening question.... A few months ago I bought a potted hydrangea , I've planted it out in the garden and it's produced lots of flowers, but it's very short & stubby. Would removing the flowers now help it to grow larger? My existing hydrangea hasn't flowered yet, and I always leave the flowers even when they've died & don't remove them till spring.
