'Ghost' signs - then and now.

Looking closely at the 2016 Google photo it does appear to show the bricked up lower part of the window and at the top of the sign at that point the paint does not seem to match.

We seem to have a time paradox. My photo with the window enlarged & extending down into the sign and the lower window converted into a grill was taken 12 October 2009. The Google photo showing the original situation is marked "image capture 2016".
Hi Noah, here's my pic taken this morning.
Maybe someone was told to put the window back to how it was, shorter.
Does make me wonder if there are any protection rights, for some ghost signs.

Certainly in the conservation area I'm in there are no rules about whether you can have UVPC. The ruling suggests you don't, but it can't stop it. Far too many pretty houses ruined with plastic windows.

Someone i know replaced all of the sash windows in his house with plastic fantastic, not realising his house was in a conservation area. He had to have them all removed and have new, wooden, sash windows reinstalled. It was, as you might imagine, a most costly error of judgement.

This was in that there London, not here.

My sister and her ex husband bought a house on the Stone rd in Eccleshall. They weren't allowed to put the upvc windows in. So, they were all replaced with wooden ones, and they all had to look exactly like the ones taken out.

There was a ghost sign I am sure on a house midway down Victoria Terrace on the right, but street view up to 2009 says no.

Can I have this, as a ghost sign of Stafford?

It's been there for quite some time, from what i gather. Due to its postioning, and even though it's painted on wood, I think it may last a few years more.
The state of the building it's attachted to, is looking a little sorry for itself.
Shame, really.

If the phone number is original, it's post April 1995, when the 1 was added in to 0785.

I always thought that snooker club picture looked as if John Travolta had been cast in a Jimmy White biopic: Saturday White Fever - The People's Champion.
