I wouldn't be too optimistic about his chances . . .

If you go down near John Woods today you're sure of a big surprise,
If you go down to John Woods today you'd better go in disguise,
For every England fan that ever there was
Will gather there for a cup cake,
Because today's the day the big Teddy Bear has been nicked.

Hope he comes home safe and sound soon. Sounds like a drunken prank gone a bit wrong.

It sounds like theft to me.

I was giving them the benefit of doubt but looking at the photos I concede you're probably correct.

Suspect Big Ted will pop up in a Siberian salt mine in about 20 years time. Either that or the big russian crook will sign him up as a full back for Chelsea next season but he'll never win three in a row :)

I have been reliably informed that the Teddy has been returned.
I don't believe that's the case.

We contacted the Bakehouse after finding a similar bear in storage on the garage. We offered it to the Bakehouse but I got a message from them saying that they had been offered an identical one which they accepted.

From Staffordshire Smart Alert:

Appeal: Can you help us trace man linked to theft from Stafford business?

23 August 2018, 11:07 AM

Officers have released an image of a man they want to trace following the theft of a display teddy bear from outside a business in Stafford town centre.

The theft took place on Saturday 7 July at around 5pm, when four men approached the Bakehouse Café in Market Street and grabbed the teddy. The men, believed to be in their early 20's and of white appearance then made off across Market Square towards Greengate Street and later captured on CCTV heading up the alley way at the side of McDonalds.

The teddy bear, named Barnaby, is white and around 5ft tall. The owners would very much like to be reunited with Barnaby as he holds a great deal of sentimental value.

Town centre CCTV has captured a man carrying the teddy bear pictured and we would appeal for anyone who knows the man or anyone who bears a resemblance to get in touch with us on 101 quoting serial number 664 of 7 July.
