GREEN PARTY ELECTION CAMPAIGN LAUNCH

The Green Party are celebrating the official launch of their General Election campaign with an evening event featuring live music from local artists. Mike Shone, the Green Party’s General Election candidate for Stafford said “For the first time, voters in Stafford will have the option of voting Green at the General Election. We are celebrating this with a great evening of live music and entertainment. The event will also be an opportunity for people to meet me and share their views in a relaxed, social environment. I am also delighted and feel very fortunate to have so much support from Stafford's creative community, who I can’t thank enough.”

Running from 7.30pm until 10pm at The Pie and Ale House, formerly The Surgery, in Crabbery Street, on Saturday 20th March, the ‘Green Launch’, as it is being dubbed, has a long line-up loaded with local talent.

Acts appearing on the evening include

- Stafford favourite Emily Heath (20), premiering a new ‘poppy-folk-acoustic-punk’ song

- The legendary Doley Sofas, reunited for their first reunion gig since 1993

- Sisters Katy (18) and Emily (21) Thompson, winners of the Stafford Festival Raw Talent 2009 and Staffordshire Battle of the Bands 2010 finalists

- James Flanagan, the soulful, singing half of the Ford Trash Love Affair Squad

- nationally acclaimed folk singer Gillie Nichols, previewing her new album “True Train”

- Rob Halden, West Midlands Stand-up comedian of the Year 2010

Entry to the event is free. For further information search for “Green Launch” on Facebook or email elections@staffordandstonegreenparty.org

Interesting line-up

Given the relatively small venue and the Stafford price for entrance, are we able to obtain a ticket beforehand to guarentee a handy spot by the bar ?

Footnote

I have previous form having attended the Green Party National Conference in, I think, the late eighties at the Civic Hall with magician David Vaughan Icke

Who's thinking of going? I might pop down.

The last time I saw a real, live, stand-up comedian was about 2 years ago on some of the comedy club nights when it was The Surgery.

BTW nothing of any relevance comes up when I search Facebook for "Green Launch"...

Sadly, Rob Halden, West Midlands Stand-up of the year will now be unable to appear at this event. Instead, guests will be able to laugh at me trying to sing some songs I wrote when I was 18.

Hi Withnail. Yes, Mike will be there all evening, and I expect we shall all stay for a few ales after the music has ended, until they stop serving and we move on somewhere else... After all, it will be my birthday at midnight that evening...
