Well, lets hope things start to move now and work can commence to transform the old place, cant wait to see the planning app, going from commercial to residential should be a challenge

I think planning guidance has been changed fairly recently to make this more straightforward

Changes have been made to the permitted development rights to make it easy to go from commercial to residential without the need for planning permission, however this won't apply to the Guildhall.

Any redevelopment of the Guildhall will need planning permission.

I hope the Guildhall is converted into a mixed use development which includes a mix of retail and leisure and possibly some residential use. It's not going to be easy to provide suitable living accommodation in the Guildhall so I'm sceptical about the rumours.

A few posts under my belt
I heard an advert on Stafford FM the other day for The Guildhall. Apparently it's the 'heart of shopping' in Stafford with a huge choice. I think they must mean a 'huge choice' of empty units.

How they have the gall to still run adverts claiming that it's the place to visit in Stafford I really do not know.
The advert on the station is a long-standing deal as they are also our landlords, I know the advert sounds odd but we are encouraging people to support what businesses are left. We are in constant contact with them and we are trying our best to find out what the future holds for the centre.

The staff working there are brilliant and i think they are as much in the dark as the rest of us. I've struggled to get the new owners to speak to me. Ill keep plugging away and update when i can
