GUINNESS ICE CREAM!

1/2 vanilla bean, split lengthwise
1 cup whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
2/3 cup Guinness stout
2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons molasses
4 egg yolks
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1. In a medium saucepan, scrape in the vanilla bean seeds. Add the pod, milk, and cream. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Turn off the heat, cover the pan, and let the flavours infuse for 30 minutes.
2. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan over medium-high heat, whisk together the stout and molasses. Bring to a boil and turn off heat.
3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk the yolks, sugar, and vanilla extract. Whisk in a few tablespoons of the hot cream mixture, then slowly whisk in another 1/4 cup of the cream. Add the remaining cream in a steady stream, whisking constantly. Pour the mixture back into the saucepan.
4. Stir the beer mixture into the cream mixture. Cook the custard over medium heat, stirring often with a wooden spoon, for 6 to 8 minutes or until the custard thickens enough to coat the back of the spoon.
5. Strain the mixture into a bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight. Process the custard in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's instructions. Makes 1 quart.
6. Eat a lot and stumble!

4000th post? Whatever, I'm nonchalant..
i'm fond of the barbecued brandy bananas. whop a banana, still in its skin, on the BBQ. wait till it starts to brown then turn it over. split the skin with a knife and fill with brandy. give it five minutes and the brandy with caramelise the banana. scoop it out the serve with fresh cream. tastes bonza and gets you sloshed...

Like the theory but prefer Cointreau
*edit* inserting a Dime bar adds to the experience
to the Banana Bobby, to the banana

Sorry but no
You can make ice cream using your freezer but you'll have to give it a stir every half hour or so.
Guinness loaf does sound like a possibility but I'd think it's one one of those trial and error things ref quantities

Beery bread is a doddle if you have a bread maker. Just add your beer of choice instead of water. For a light, soft, bready treat use German Hefeweizen beer...

This is fast becoming my favourite thread. I'm going to do the Jack Daniels thing and report back. I was thinking though, maybe it wouldn't work because it might not freeze? I don't know. Could put cherry beer into some vanilla icecream maybe? This is going to take a lot of thought, experimentation and falling over, I think.

I'd have thought coke syrup used for soda streams would be best for that
