Can anyone confirm this? Im sure in recent years they moved the water mill wheels recently in Victoria park, but I was having a conversation about it a few months back and they said I was talking a load of rubbish.

Have the wheels been moved ?

Street View pictures range from 2009 to 2019 and show little change - apart from the bevel gear nearest the road falling off in 2015/16.

I feel like they might have been moved when they upgraded the basin, although I can't be sure. In my distant past I am have a memory of them being somewhere else.

Then my memory was wrong...!
I do 'remember' some work being done on them, possibly around the end of the 80s - they might have been lifted up a bit into the current configuration?

Having said that, I have hardly been around there for the last year, so more recent events could have occurred.

Hmm, it was later than that , either late 90s or mid to late 2000s, maybe it was when then we're redoing the park the first time , when they were changing the layout of the river to try and prevent it flooding?

Probably, it was a period of vagueness...

Where do you think they were, that they are not now?

They aren't the kind of thing you just move on a whim.

Feng shwe can't move that a bit to the left, and back a bit, it looks pretty heavy.

I am pretty sure they were relocated further away from the park fence, they also used to have water running underneath! The mills were lower in the ground than what they are now!

If you compare the prominent gabled dormer in the photo ^above, with this contemporary view, it looks to be in exactly the same place. Which shouldn't come as a massive surprise.

It looks like some concrete has been removed from the uglier/earlier surrounds to leave just the actual older stone in place, and the pit wheel may have been repositioned.

Also, the back end of The Grot is more massively changed than a Mill that dates back centuries.
