Have your say on Victoria Park.

It would be possible to have a cantilevered walkway that ran under the bridge on Bridge Street, I think.

Ideally yes. And if that's not possible in the short term, then a clearly marked link path between the park riverside path and the new cinema / restaurants riverside path.

Maybe the cinema / restaurant developers could be asked to contribute towards whichever path is viable.

How do I edit this?
The only proposal I did not support was the aviary, as I believe birds should not be kept in captivity, except where its part of breeding programme to save a species (and then birds should be kept in large aviaries, where they have a chance to fly properly). Instead I suggested a screened wild bird feeding station, where people would be able to observe the many wild park and river birds at close quarters.

There might be a case for keeping the rare pheasants, not sure about all the budgies and cockatiels which I assume started as someone's unwanted pets. Although it's perhaps better to have them there than set loose - Barcelona has feral green parrots making a nuisance of themselves in the same way we do pigeons.

Done. I would love for there to be a bit more going on in the park. We are there most days in the summer.

I feel a bit bah humbug, but the park is too small, it can't be all the things people want it to be. Look at the skateboard bit most times of the night and day, and the kids bit on any dry day and you will find them packed to the gunnels. Why not use the money to buy some more land to move the skateboarders too and expand the kids bit? Stafford's population continues to grow, the park is the same size it was 100 odd year ago. I like the idea of investment in public spaces, I really do, but didn't they only just spend a whole wad of cash on it a few years ago? It never changed the fundamental issue of too much demand sadly, infact it was a success so made it worse!!

I think k a new cafe is a lovely idea. I also think having something like a winter market or a foodfestival in the summer would be nice, they could set up stools outside of the park also if they would fit.

The mix of stuff is what makes it nice - last time we were there we spent longer walking around the glass house looking at the fish and the flowers then we did at the play park bit - but when your 16 months old everything is awesome and new.
