Have your say on Victoria Park.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Had a stroll round this afternoon. It's good and will be even better when it's all bedded in.

That café's in a prime location isn't it? Look forward to using that when the current excitement passes.

Walked down the passage tonight. The café is great, reminds me of the one in Finsbury Park (who do I sound like now?!)

They still have the birds right? The wife made very good friends with a parrot of some sorts many years ago from the bird cages

There seemed fewer of the birds there then I remember but I'm sure it will restock (they take in donations don't they). We fear for the cantankerous parrot but he was looking old anyway so our best guess is he was too old to be moved back.

Took Bee for walkies around the park this morning and it is impressive even if it has taken forever to complete.

The birds in the new aviarys look like the ones they had in the old circular aviary.

The coffee in the new shop is nice, there is a pleasant outdoor table area and when they are allowed to open properly they will be allowing doggies in which pleased Bee :)

Had a couple of walks and really like it. Still befuddled by the negative neigh sayers over the last year and hope they all visit and agree we've moved forward. Open, safe, clean and easily maintained and good to see the cafe operating a take away service rather than jus shutting up shop.
One minus - I'd like to see the opening hours clearly displayed at the entrances rather than just covid info!

Looks fantastic, but call me a miserable old git, but I have a soft spot for the ramshackle old park, Ok it was showing its age, and was little distressed. If I am honest I still have a hankering for the Mill and its wheels before they were relocated to there current position, THE WRONG WAY ROUND! and it did cost an expectorant amount, and maybe the birds are better homed, but there is less of 'em and are they really happier?
The Cafe certainly looks posher, but I bet its more expensive, and that old fella, the former owner of the old kiosk, had been there for years, and it was really pretty reasonable !:ohno:

('miserable old git!' It was Lottery money, its train passengers first impression of the town, and its part the development of that area!:bravo: Ed)

Passed through the park this morning. If it can be as busy as it was on a dull Sunday morning in November, there's no doubt it will be a success

I always found the Coach and Horses convenient for Victoria Park.

Yes, and will one as ramshackled, showing my age, and a little distressed as me look too out of place strolling round the 'new' park ?

Ah, that's nice to know.
And so a bit like proper pubs.
Except that most people wouldn't go anywhere near your examples of 'proper pubs' I'm afraid.

Anyway this is a thread about the park, not pubs.

I had a coffee from the new café yesterday and have to say it was quite nice. Jr enjoyed his hot chocolate as well.
