I’ve just seen a post saying they have 150 turkeys donated by Sainsbury’s if anyone wants one?

All our (sainsbury) turkeys were donated to charity this year. Bad news for all the customers expecting a half price bargain, but excellent news for all the charity's helped.
Many years ago, a friend of mine, living in Castletown, declared that he would get all the Christmas shopping in, at a much more cost-effective rate than his wife would.

His plan was to go across late on Christmas Eve and get it all for half-nothing.

When he got there, they had sold out of everything and the shop was closed and in darkness.

As were all the other places that he tried.

They had sardines on toast for Christmas dinner.

This has not been forgotten.

Gramaisc: this almost identical to my first Christmas in Stafford; the first ever one I had where I wasn't Up North. My meal ended up being kippers on toast. T'other half wouldn't go shopping until the last minute . . . .

Serves you right!

I will amend my records to show "kippers" instead of "sardines" for future reference.
