Well I did a system restore a few days ago, and seems to have made it better, I can't help feeling there's something not quite right though :S Wish I know more about fixing PC's.

yeah, but in fairness there isn't a market for Mac security software, really.. not because they're more secure or anything, but simply because the size of their userbase means geeks and script kiddies can't be bothered with trying to exploit them.. Macs are almost always only used as a media workstation (or similar) - they don't do anything interesting (as far as a hacker is concerned) so there is no point trying to compromise one!

that will slowly change though, as the move to intel means that hackers are in more familiar territory, as well as increasing the Mac userbase by allowing apple to drop their prices (if only slightly)..

anyway, i think we can all agree that the solution to Rie's problems is not "buy an apple mac" lol.. if the poor girl is looking for free software to help her, i don't think the idea of spending £2k on a new system is much of a solution lol..

i've no idea, but i'd hazard a guess that it's something to do with a freeware virus scanner, which was the only one for the Mac you could get for years

ok i got a really good one...as you get viruses / trojhans / keyloggers etc by opening files you download over the net! Well use this great website
www.virustotal.com
use it before you open any file...it scans the file with norton, AVG and about another 8 anti viruses

alright jellyfish, welcome to the forum

good to hear you're getting your coding experience in early.. i started to do Computer Sciene at uni back in 1997, but sacked it off cos i couldn't be arsed with it lol.. keep your head down and you'll land yourself a heavy job, i reckons..

there's a thread in the general chat forum about peoples' ages, i think.. probably best to ask in there rather than derail rie's thread!

Yes im reading a tutorial on c++ coding to learn all about like i say iv'e already created my own programme using c++ coding and compiled it togther into a .EXE with codeblocks which is a very good compiler! learning c++ is very boring but im going to do it as its useful for quite alot of things!
