I've just booked a cottage in Fife for June which just happens to coincide with the Superbikes weekend at Knockhill.

Hopefully the ginger dwarf will let the full amount of spectators in this time and I don't end up watching the racing on my phone from the cottage again 😁

It's my 40th in May and have worked out I can have 2 and a half weeks off if I tie it in with the extra bank holiday. Think it'll probably have to be Europe but will book relatively close to the time; current favourite is Porto - Azores - Lisbon.

Booking opened for our Scilly campsite yesterday, called about 20 times and couldn't get through so just waiting for confirmation from the online form.

The OH has handed his notice in and wants a week off before he starts his new job so a week in the Lakes in January is also likely.

Well.... looks like having a change this year , from our safe little haven down in Poole. ...

The day has come for what I was expecting ......Along with our Christmas card from our little 'home from home' in Poole , was a letter saying they are putting the holiday cottage on the market in the new year.

I'd been googling how much the cottage was worth , when I was bored one day in early days of Covid lockdowns, and saw it up for sale then. But then pulled back off the market . So not a complete surprise as we thought they'd be waiting until the covid situation was better and put it up for sale again.
We'd actually been into a holiday letting agents whilst down there this last year, and walking around looking at other possible properties just incase . But none as cheap and as comfortable looking , especially with their own driveway . And none like the owners of this cottage providing everything you could possibly need , including a fridge full of goodies including bottles of wine!

If anyone knows of any nice clean and comfortable holiday lets , which have a dedicated parking space ( or even better it's own driveway ) , washing machine and in a nice resort or town please let me know.

I stayed in Weymouth in an apartment that overlooked the harbour. Lovely central location with dedicated parking. Might be what your looking for but wouldn't be offended if it wasn't.

OMG Looks perfect for us . Especially with the parking as well. Thanks @PeterD :)
Lots just have permits for parking on the roads, but not a dedicated space, and from past holidays I've seen people so frustrated going round looking for a non-existant space . Plus I'm no good at parallel parking to squash into tight spaces!

Hoping they have the weeks available that we can go. Can't actually book anything yet til hubby can find out which weeks he's able to have off work. (Pain in the @rse now he has to wait weeks for the german boss to come back saying either Ja or Nein each time :()

We rent cottages most years so I can recommend the following (not all by the sea though)
The Old Coach House - Old Hunstanton
Deuchars cottage - Kenmore Perthshire
Home cottage - Winterton-on-Sea
Grosmont Villa - Grosmont Yorkshire Moors and Whitby
Seaview villa - Lynmouth (but path is very steep)
Cross house - Sheepwash Devon
Stepps cottage - Axmouth

Hope this helps in your search.

We've just booked a week in a cottage in Looe for may half term (closer to Millendreath but the right side of Looe for driving). Was hoping to be finished with my job by then but it's looking like I may still be finishing off stuff. Would also like to go abroad but it will depend on the 'Rona' and insurance costs for the wife!!

We are going to have to stick to UK as don't think we will get insurance for abroad again.

Quite happy sticking to various places in UK though.

Another vote from this lover of independant global travel for something next year in blighty. Done North West and North East Scotland the past 2 years so suspect maybe Scotland South West and islands... Oban and left!

Also considering a camping trip on the Lleyn peninsula in North Wales.

Exotic times lol

All nice looking places @Thehooperman .

Just need to see what the boss comes back with , as to which weeks we can choose from and what is still available by then. Lots of the summer weeks look booked up already , and I expect they will start going fast after christmas when people start thinking holidays.

Deuchars Cottage - looks good if we can work in a few other short breaks along the way to break the journey up. Never been to Scotland.

Cross House looks like it went up for sale as well in June. No longer available with the booking sites I've found for it .
Stepps cottage - Axmouth not available either on booking sites .

Perthshire is beautiful. We stayed near Aberfeldy last year and loved the quiet beautiful countryside and opportunities for bagging munros. We did Ben Lawers on a stunning day walking up through the cloud. Highly recommended

@PeterD ,I've made a list of availability at the moment ready to get Harbour Hideaway booked as soon as we get the go-ahead. Just hoping there's at least one week he's told he can have off , that coincides with one of the available ones !

Noticed the Sat-Sat bookings literally double in price from their preferred Fri-Fri . So hitting Friday traffic looks like it will have to be.

It's in a great location and it's everything you need for the week. I loved it.

I know about where it is from walking around the harbour and saying next time I'd like to stay right in that part if we could get a guaranteed parking spot. Looks the perfect location for us . (We stayed in some holiday flats on the way out of Weymouth the first time , and the Premier Inn along the other end of the seafront the last time. ) There was a dog competition on the beach when we went 26 years ago , and our 3 legged rescue won an award and rosette for being the 'happiest looking dog ' with a big smile on her face. She loved it there as well :D .

Probably double in price as you basically book 2 weeks. There does seem to be a lot of Friday to Friday bookings nowadays, plays havoc with my leave.
