All nice looking places
@Thehooperman .
Just need to see what the boss comes back with , as to which weeks we can choose from and what is still available by then. Lots of the summer weeks look booked up already , and I expect they will start going fast after christmas when people start thinking holidays.
Deuchars Cottage - looks good if we can work in a few other short breaks along the way to break the journey up. Never been to Scotland.
Cross House looks like it went up for sale as well in June. No longer available with the booking sites I've found for it .
Stepps cottage - Axmouth not available either on booking sites .
Deuchars cottage is a great base to explore from and is located near the pebble beach on Loch Tay.
A couple of things to be aware of
It doesn't have its own parking but you can unload from the road and park about 10 yards away.
The outside area is quite small and on the main road but the beach is only a 50 yard walk away.
Also have a look at Crag view cottage at Embsay near Skipton and Railway cottage at Frosterly.
We've also enjoyed cottages at the Mumbles, Llangynwyd, Luxborough, Gunnerside in the Yorkshire dales, St Dogmaels, Llwyngrwl, Hutton-le-hole, and Rhoscolyn but I can't remember the names of the cottages. Again all recommended villages/areas.
If you search with Vrbo and find somewhere you like contact the owner directly because they often let you book directly with them to avoid the hefty service charge. Also check if the cottage is on other sites who don't charge the service charge.
Final tip Original cottages give you an 8% discount if you have Camra membership. I'm not advocating Camra (cue
@Mudgie) here but it costs c£27 but can save you 3 or 4 times that on a cottage and you get £20 worth of vouchers to spend on real ale.
